I have to wonder how much the film helps. Frequent damage seems like an inevitable side effect of large/flat/upright windshields. Jeep obviously deals with issues as well

Anyone that has followed the Ineos Grenadier know it also suffers from this issue. Not sure if this is applicable or not but seems like it would be. Grenadier owners seem to have issues with rock chips on the edge of the glass that quickly spread, so they have begun installing a rubber trim gasket around the outer edge to help mitigate the issue.

I've had mine going on 4 years now, its has saved my biscuits multiple times. When I first got it, OEM windshields were wildly expensive. After a bad experience with safelite once before, i figured it would cover atleast one replacement. I would have at minimum 3 if not for the film.

So how is the visibility/ Wiper performance etc. In other words, how much difference do you notice vs not having it in everyday usage?

I use my Bronco as my daily and Offroad it competitively. Wiper performance is great when there isn’t lots of silt or dirt. You want to be careful because it will leave scratch marks if you have a lot of dirt and silt on the windshield.

That’s a great question. It is 99.9% UV resistant. I’m in central Texas and for the first year no issues with the sun.

Wipers are fine unless you have a lot of dirt and silt. I clean the wipers as often as I can to help reduce that but I have scratches on mine from the rally. Rally is intense though. The wiper fluid I use is rain x and I don’t have any issues with it either.

I mean, makes sense. No need to run them unless it’s raining. During the rally I had no choice. Lots of mud and dirt I could hardly see.

I can't see how you go without the film. I'm 40k miles, same film....lots and lots of pockmarks. No cracks. Likely need to start thinking about changing it out.

Same with PPF ....and condoms with strangers LOL.

Trying to remove this after a few years when it is all scratched up will be extremely difficult.

Can someone who has this for a while now post a pic through their windshield at night with car headlights shining at you?

Did you need a heat gun? Was not able to get the sides to stick because the film kept wanting to bend back out. Maybe I had too much baby oil and needed more water....lol. Ruined the film though.

dood you are meant to use a solution of baby SHAMPOO not oil!
no wonder you ruined yours.

I had no issue using baby shampoo solution when I applied ppf to my hood.

I only use Nextzett WW fluid for my rides with exoshield or xpel on the windshield. Even supposed to be safe for the ceramic coating that I have on top of the shield.

This spring is a year for also with the shield on. Installed it right after I had the windshield replaced. So many stars from rocks. I don't believe I don't have any stars/chips yet. about 15k miles. I am a firm believer in the product.

I'll try... But the only time I see the faint markings are when the sun is about maybe a 60 degree from horizon angle. it's vary faint. It hits it just right for a short period of time a day.
