Headed to Vegas in late April 2026 ... any hints/tips for an OffRoadeo newbie?

Thanks!

Just relax and enjoy the ride. Don't worry about which Bronco you end up with, or which instructor you end up with. Spend the next day or two on trails nearby using what you learned.

I attended the Tennessee Off-Roadeo, and I assume the same thing will be present at all locations.
There are no bathrooms on the trails, and they fed us tacos for lunch before the 4+ hour trail ride.
So take provisions for all bathroom needs.

Enjoy... we had a blast!

The road to the location is rough, I did it with a sedan and a CX5. The CX5 was much better over the rough. Weather changes a ton, layer up depending on time of year. Sweats in the morning, shorts mid day and back to sweats for the ride home when I went. I would suggest a cheap action camera with ball attachment for the dash, you will likely enjoy reviewing it later. They offer a recording, if I remember it was rather expensive

Yeah, I already mentally started a packing list with variable clothing options from morning to mid-afternoon and back to dusk. Thanks for the tip on the camera ... I had not yet added my new little Chinese made video can that did an awesome in the South Pacific a few months back.

Dress comfortably. Wear good boots for outdoors, you will have to get out and do some walking. They gave us a nice Yeti water bottle to fill up and keep, not sure if they still do or not, but may want some water or something to drink on the trail. May want a hat or suntan lotion. Be prepared to have a good time.

Switch to Moab? Just a thought. They still did the Yeti bottles a couple of months ago. And they packed each Bronco with a cooler, ice and drinks for the day. Like someone else mentioned, dont get caught up in the race to pick what Bronco you want. For what you are going to be doing they are essentially equals. When I went I just followed the mad dash crowd and got the last available Bronco. It was a brand new '25 badlands. Also as we were standing beside it the guide came over and said that this bronco was his "office" and would be riding along with us. Bonus. Lots of "additional content" with the guide riding with you. Also was used as the demonstration vehicle so we got to do things the others just got to watch.

Sounds like you had a blast on the trails after tacos and a four hour trail ride.

Thats the real reason they pack a shovel as recovery gear

I second the comment about Moab. Went last June.

Had a blast, did some light to moderate ledge crawling, some higher speed desert runs. Just a great time, although it was HOT in June, the truck was indicating 106 degree temps. Everyone decided to skip the campfire in the evening. LOL

I was glad to get the only WildTrak they had since that is what I own, but as was mentioned earlier, every Bronco there was able to keep up with what they put us through.

I fortunately didn't need to resort to toilet paper during those 4+ hours.
But the couple behind us did... the woman came up to my driver's door and said she needed to use the "facilities" between our two Broncos, and asked if I could not exit mine for a few minutes. The Bronco was still running, and I joked with the wife that I was going to put it in reverse and see what the back-up camera view looked like...... boy did I ever get the "Do it and I'll KILL you look!"

We did NEVADA in December ('24), so a bit chillier, but I imagine what others have said still rings true. High dessert. I own a 2DR but drove a 4DR for kicks.
It's just a day, so don't overthink it. I'd do it again!
(Side note: We were out visiting Charleston before flying to Nevada. Nice town you got there!)
