I think the right thing for them to do right now is to pull the product from the market until it can genuinely be considered “plug and play,” and the issues that should have been resolved during development and beta testing are fully addressed.

Update. We've continuously reached out to CaRobotor requesting a fix. They say either sorry we were out on a holiday, our test Bronco is at a repair shop, or they're going to share bug fixes via email - and the email never shows up.

Using it first hand, the cluster poses inherent risks, by reporting inaccurate fuel data and disabling safety features including adaptive cruise control, cross-traffic alerts, blind spot monitoring and collision assist. They continue to dodge the current issues being reported, yet continues to sell this item knowing issues exist.

For this reason, yesterday I filed a formal complaint with NHTSB and will be sharing my conversations, findings and even my cluster with the agency, should the need arises.

This is currently an unsafe product and should not be available for sale while these defects remain.

Thank you for your insights. I was contemplating purchasing this, but will definitely not be at this time, or ever, as they appear to not be able to support what they sell.

We've FINALLY received a reply and a firmware update. I still have reservations, but wanted to share a consolidated status update for anyone following along.

What appears improved:
  • New UI improvements/enhancements.
  • GOAT Modes now sync with themes. New themes added for ECO and Sport mode (see below).
  • Fuel level percentage and miles remaining now appear to correctly sync with FordPass.
  • Readings have been consistent after driving and refueling.
    • I’ll continue monitoring this, especially near low-fuel conditions.

Issues still observed:

1. Media language mismatch
Media metadata from XM Radio, Bluetooth, and Android Auto continues to display in Chinese, despite the vehicle and cluster language being set to English.

2. Cluster reboot during GOAT mode change
The cluster became unresponsive, went black, and rebooted while switching GOAT modes (observed during transition into Mud/Ruts).

3. Safety features disabled after resuming Sport mode
After a drive cycle, shutting the vehicle off, restarting, and choosing to resume Sport mode, the following systems were disabled again (settings were correct on initial startup):
  • Blind Spot Monitoring (BLIS)
  • Cross-Traffic Alert
  • Collision Assist
4. Units mismatch – fuel economy
Sync 4 continues to display fuel economy and related data in L/100 km, while the cluster is set to MPG.

5. Units mismatch – Trail Assist
Trail Assist set speed displays in km/h, even though system units are set to MPH.

6. Minor UI issue – Eco mode colors
Eco GOAT mode UI graphics are blue (same as Normal mode). They should be green to visually reflect Eco mode.

Additional note
  • Status of any on-going DTCs caused by the cluster remains TBD. I need more drive time to see if the vehicle logs or trips any codes.
  • I’ll keep updating as I put more miles on it and as/if anything changes.
Posting this strictly as field observations so others can compare notes.

One more video. Hoping @carobotor can work through all the current issues with this cluster, cuz these graphics are giving the Raptor's cluster a run for the money.

I got the same update via email. I can’t seem to get the update to install though. I have both files on a USB stick and when I put it in the port I get the message “”UPDATE detected’. Then “indexing UPDATE complete”. Then nothing happens. Not sure what is going on. I do have automatic updates enabled, but not sure. I hesitate to contact them, they haven’t been that responsive. Thanks. Oh “UPDATE is the label of the USB stick

Strongly dislike the purple on Sport mode I think it is, but glad to hear they're continuing to work on the bugs.

The sport mode theme is what you get when you run TRACK MODE on a GT500.

Looks like they have been busy since I had it. Hopefully, they will get the bugs worked out fully.

Nope. Tried several different USB sticks. They all do the same thing. It’s like it’s scanning it for media files. Nothing ever comes up about updating or progress bar or anything.

mine was also shipped with a default name. They sent me a file to change the name and it did the same exact thing. Never updated it so I’ve just lived with it.

Dumb question, but USB drive is formatted to FAT32? Make sure not to use a huge memory size, if you have a large memory USB, make a 8Gb partition, format to FAT32 and put the files in that partition.

Yes it’s formatted properly, and I used one that was 2gb and one that was 8gb.
Another dumb question but after inserting the usb drive is it supposed to just update automatically? I also tried going into the device system information menu and it has a “hold OK to update system” but even then I get an error “the system file do not match the hardware of the instrument”. Yes that’s not a typo that’s the exact quote…lol
