It's been a really rewarding project, SOoo FUN too drive the beast this past week! Still getting used to the INSTANTANEOUS throttle response, the mid range torque is so addictive, and it pulls WAY further up the RPM range then the 2.7 (redline feels like 9,000 RPMs)...But, the real noticeable difference is the LOW idle...600 rpms is normal in gear, so the crawl speed is GREATLY reduced, even in Hi range it idles along at only 2mph/600 rpms.!!!...I love this part as much as revving to the moon. Fuel mileage did take a hit tho, I'm seeing around 11 MPG (down from 13mpgs w/2.7 w/41s)!!! BUT now that the fuel prices are half of the past, I look forward to driving it as much as possible (100 + miles per day)

So far, everything is working perfectly.

That is so awesome brother. I think most of us would happily take that hit on economy for such an awesome ride.

What front diff did you end up going with?

I'm a little surprised you haven't figured out a way to get a bigger gas tank.

Having a V8 does have its pluses and minus. 13 down to 11mpg isn’t too bad of a hit. My first Gen Lightning typically got around 10 mpg depending on how the skinny pedal was pushed. I don’t recall what I was paying for gas in the mid nineties but even with two 17 gallon tanks, it seemed I was always at the gas station. But….god do I miss the sound, the low end grunt, and the low RPM’s of a V8. Great job Allan bringing this beast back to life.

My 2010 Chevy gets 10mpg city, maybe 13mpg highway. My 86 Ram Charger got 10mpg 30 years ago, and my 1982 Ford F-250 got like 6mpg (gas gauge didn't work, I just went off refills between stops). Even my 1995 Jeep with the I-4 only got like 10/14mpg 15 years ago. I remember one glorious period of time fall of 96 when gas was <$.90, down to $.79 when I went down the first time that fall from college to Houston. Barrel of oil then I think bottomed out around $11-12? Industry almost croaked. I don't think it ever went below a dollar after that. That was the Ram Charger with the 36gal take and the dusty ass wallet.

Ok

Looks and sounds awesome. But maybe you need someone to help with the videos instead of laying your phone on the ground next to a cigarette butt. 😂
