Sorry this happened to you, but to be honest with 2.3L 300hp (330 with ProCal) I don’t have high expectations it will last much longer for most of us. Government regulations guarantee most new cars will die within 10 years.

UPDATE
As suspected, these are turning up across the country.
- I give full and grateful credit to my service team, and management at the Ford dealer

In summary
- 115K miles
- Out of warranty
- 2.3 with a hole int eh engine block between cylinders 2 & 3
- Techs went sleuthing and began getting feedback from the underground that this was not isolated with multiple incidences. around the contry. Not 100's but enough to make it notable
- We had all service detail Dealer went to bat hard as this reflects poorly on his inventory and customer community

After compound escalation between Ford and my “team” which comprised the Service Techs, Service Reps and General Manager of my ford dealership, we escalated to Ford Corporate and came to a deal
- I needed a New Long Block with a Hole between cylinder 2 an3
- had ALL OEM service ahead of schedule
- There were some reports of other failures, No TSB yet but a Known problem
- My argument and the Dealer backed the argument:
Either there was a design and Manufacturing issue

OR

Ford is indicating our meticulous, proactive, and all OEM PARTS AND FLUIDS service and maintenance schedule, with normal wear was invalid to support the longevity of the FORD Product.
They fought but then in support of the dealer approved a roughly 25/25/50 Deal

Ford 25%
Dealer 25%
Me 50%
Net effect:
New Updated OEM Long block engine
Roughly $9,900 installed and delivered for $4,400
Ford OEM Warranty 36 Mo / or 36K Miles

We about 45% as dealer kicked in a little extra.
If we were under 100K Miles would have likely been fully covered

To win, you need an OEM dealer and service team willing partner with you in the battle.
They jumped in based on our good customer relationship in support of their reputation as a dealer selling reliable FORD product.
These engine failures are out there:
If the dealer and staff are willing engage corporate about 5 levels above the initial Customer Service call (F*c# Off Go Away Youre out of warranty) Level
There is potential for Goodwill
Its a battle and slog and there will be blood but its out there.

Yes we do. Read the OP again. He said:

“OEM Dealer oil change” also indicates correct OEM spec oil was used. I’d say the blame lies with Ford for this specific engine failure, pointing to a manufacturing defect.
Thanks for your supportive note.
See Update in a thread I just posted.
Long Story Short,
We came to an amicable agreement for a replacement.
I have a new engine in a wholly owned depreciated car with a 3/36 Warranty
I can drive it for a while and put in a barn somewhere to e found in 20 years

Amicable ending

Coyote swap time!!!
See my thread update.
We came to an amicable agreement.
I asked if we could spec a deal on a Coyote or a Brptor engine...
At least they laughed.

It's a known issue with 2.3 in Mustang world which is odd because all internals are forged, however a $100 fuel pressure sensor on top at rear of engine is a know culprit as is excessive fuel dilution to oil so at a min dirty side catch can needed, then there's the cylinder colling ports that crack dumping coolant into oil.

Depending on the price of your 45%, you may be able to get a wrecked Mustang HPP motor, or a built 2.0 which is what Mustang guys do. FP also has a hipo 2.3 block good for 700+ HP. EMS has hipo long blocks for $10K

Thx. I agree and this should not have been an issue as it’s a known point of failure.

Sadly and ironically the high mileage highway cruises accellerated that very failure, not off road sand snow slogging.

One of my buddy’s daughters sent me Sarah N’ Tuned’s build video and said I need a catch can to protect against the design flaw. Lol. Kids. (I told her to order it)

I went the old man route and with factory and dealer contributions, we did the deal for $4,200 with standard 3 yr 36k mile warranty which gave it a new heart. It will be a second car that stays in the mountains and desert for work with fewer long distance highway slogs that ironically led to it’s demise. Not the hard duty.

That worked best for what we plan to do with it going forward. The $ deal was doable, the dealer battling for us and the warranty helped sway the decision.

This. To the point that the phenomenon is known as EcoBoom in the Mustang world.
