I was afraid of that... so there is just one step that Forscan cannot do by itself basically?

I guess the Mongoose Plus + FRDS sub (@$120/per 2 days) are still less $$ than the Procal tuner from FP as well....
You don't know anybody with FDRS? I heard it went up, $120 for two days is bollocks. Ford taking it's cut. @mpeugeot Didn't you have a budget plug that worked most of the time?

Hey guys, I'm new here (kinda Obv. I guess..) I'm a former Ford service tech (Galpin Ford, Northridge CA) and I'm in a pickle with my next-door neighbor's 2022 Badlands 4dr (2.3L EcoBoost/manual trans) and currently work as Customer Service Lead for 4WP.com's online sales.

I had my Riverside CA store install the Hoss 3.0 rack knowing they did not have a scan tool and offered to come handle the programming with my trusty Forscan equipped Win10 laptop. in an attempt to avoid him having to purchase the Procal tuner.
Unfortunately, I was not able to use the standard PMI method I was used to with IDS/Forscan in the shop and they were done with all of the other work he had them do (Etop, MBRP catback, WeBoost antenna and tailgate mount, Redarc Trailer brake controller and some Rough Country Flares... Approx $14K sale, looks good for me) so I drove it home to Yucca Valley myself to continue my attempts.

I've pulled several VINs from various online dealer listings to run As-Built requests (motorcraftservice.com) for several Wildtrak or Badlands models ranging from 22-24 and have compared all of the As-built data sets from his OG vin against the other sets and have only seen variation on 1-2 lines of the code.

I'm trying to avoid having to purchase a J2534 cable since I know how to read the lines of code and each line's location ID. Is there something else I'm missing or is there something special about the FDRS/rack hack process that I am unaware of?

Please help me....
send me a PM and I'll mail you my old "budget " adapter cord...I also now use the mongoose. So I have a spare.

Fuck $120 for access to self repair is criminal @Felix808 I need to double dip on your rack.
This is what the "right- to - repair" lawsuits leave us with, ....🤔sure, you can repair your own john deere or ford,🤪 BUT if you wanna use the manufacturers proprietary software, then you're going to have to dig in your pockets just as deep as as when taking it to the dealer.🫤

IT SUCKS, I've spent nearly 900 on fucking FDRS and. OASIS in the past 3 months

It does suck, But at the same time, isn't it sorta the same as the way it used to be when we had to buy Factory Service Manuals (FSMs) or wiring diagrams to get the secret sauce to tune a fuel system, set valve lash, or know the exact location of the connector tying back the O2 sensor to the ECU?

The difference now is that with CANBUS systems and OTA upgrades, the parameters can be changed without our knowledge, and running changes in manufacturing are so much more common now, That a printed service manual (Be it Ford's or a third party) can't stay up to date.

The cost to keep materials like that up to date have gotten way higher, and those costs are getting passed on to us. You can get an AllData subscription for the equivalent to the old Haynes manuals, or you can use Motorcraft services for the equivalent of the old FSMs.

The problem being that these are subscription services to account for continuous updates.

Gone are the days of 'fixed' electronic systems where you could by the data once (A Book), and know it wouldn't change after that.

Wish I had a plan for how to improve things, and make the tools more accessible, But I don't. :(

Unfortunately not, I’ve been out of the shop for about 10 years now. Can anyone link the budget cable for me? I’d like to at least give my guy another option from ~$600
