LED headlights are great. But the really dont heat up the headlights housing like halogen beams do. The result is snow/slush/ice buildup.

Ive considered adding a heater of some design to the back of the housing. It wouldn't be difficult. Have a thermostat set to cut it off around 60 degrees or so. I feel like I'm missing something however.

Has anyone else found a way to deal with this? Pulling over every so often to wipe the snow off really isn't fun.

There is some discussion in this recent thread on the subject:

IMO if the snow is that heavy probably not safe to drive any way otherwise just draft a semi truck three car lengths behind use them to break point and clear away any crashes ahead ...you can stop faster than them.

You may be able to find a clear film with embedded filament from aircraft or snow sports that you can install on the head lights...

Please dont draft us. A safe following distance isnt going to help you and closing that gap really puts you in a bad spot. Especially if im loaded full. I beg. And dont do it with your high beams. X.x

I follow semis all the time in poor visibility I can stop ten times faster and your 20X heavier to clear out animals and crashes...time tested prove safe harsh weather method I just follow the tail lights and chill......you won't even know I'm there.

Yes I've used it. No it hasn't damaged my $1300 aftermarket headlamps.

I have seen and used this a couple times in the past. It does work, but has to be reapplied every so often.

Totally get the struggle! One option that does solve this pretty easily is switching to a heated headlight. We make a set for the Bronco that have an integrated de-icing grid built into the lens, so it stays clear without blocking any light output. Definitely a nice upgrade if you deal with heavy snow or slush often.

And if you end up going that route, the group code BRONCO10 knocks the price down a bit!
