Is anyone experiencing issues again with their tails, now that the colder air has started coming in?

Referring to this thread

Looking to pull the trigger on some tails soon and wanted to see if this issue has reared its ugly head again. Current setup is halogens, so treading carefully.
Are people saying that the hyper flash blinker on dash happens intermittently because of outdoor/ambient temps??

No. It happens because of the code being thrown in the system. However, Morimoto provides a resistor with the taillights for people going from Halogen to their LED units. The issue is the resistors are not lasting very long. Even with relocating them and trying to insulate them from dirt as best they can, they're still failing. The thread is pretty informative. If you're planning on spending that kind of $$ on tails, I recommend reading through it.

Oh, I’m very experienced with the resistors going to shit on my Oracles. After replacing them half a dozen times I found out you can just run the Forscan changes as if you had factory LEDs.

I like the Morimotos much better. Though the reverse isn’t nearly as bright.

I reluctantly installed them with the resistors even though they seemed much more well thought out. The connectors were sealed and they’re positioned higher (where less dirt, debris, salt gets into).

I’ve had an issue where I get the hyper flash for a beat or two before returning to regular speed.

It’s definitely not a deal killer for me. They’re so much nicer than the stock halogens.

There were a couple of people who had whole banks of LEDs on the drivers side not lighting up when the brake was applied with the Mori's. I know about the Forscan 'fix' but you lose any indicator that your lamps are out. Such a pain in the ass tbh. At this point I'm seriously considering running the two wires from the BCM back to the rear harnesses and trying the Morimoto's. I wish this trim package had Signature LEDs as an option.

I hear you. They have a 5 year warranty. So, I guess I’ll wait it out and see if the resistors last through a NY winter. As long as they function fully from the outside I don’t care about dash indicators. What is that exactly - a dash light on the cluster that lets you know one or the other is out?

They’re sending you a new full set or just the resistors?

I sent back the whole thing and they should be sending me new taillights (again)

The dash blinker will hyper-flash, which is Ford's and most OEMs way of telling you that you have a bulb out. You can turn it off in FORscan and the dash will blink normally, but if you ever do lose a bulb, you won't have any indication other than someone telling you or the cops pulling you over.

For me, that's annoying, but not world ending. The issue other people are having with the entire driver's side brake light going out once the hyper-flash starts acting up is definitely a deal breaker.

I will keep an eye on the original thread since that is where you documented your experience. Since I don't actually own a set, I just didn't want to bump that thread as it is a vendor's sale thread and I don't want to potentially disrupt their business, so I figured I'd start a new post.

100% agree with that.

Where I’m at is that I want a solid solution. I installed the Turn Offroad HD tire carrier and it makes it a bit difficult to access the passenger tail light. I’d like to either install their upgraded fix or pull the resistor and Forscan.

Get the Form Lighting tails if you have halogen tails from the factory. The Form lighting work on all trim levels whereas the Morimoto have had reports of issues with stock OEM Halogen tails (non-signature)

https://www.4x4truckleds.com/form-lighting-led-tail-lights-for-2021-ford-bronco/

Otherwise if you have the signature (LED) Tails, i've not had any reports of issues with the Morimoto: https://www.4x4truckleds.com/morimoto-xb-led-low-profile-tail-lights-for-2021-ford-bronco/

The reason the Form work on non-signature (halogen) trucks is because they are pulling their brake circuit from the 3rd brake light circuit is why INSTEAD of the tail circuit. That's the issue Morimoto is having, because it's utilizing the factory tail circuit for everything.

Form fixes this issue by providing you an additional plug and play harness you install. No cutting is required btw. It just plugs right in-line with the factory 3rd brake light behind it. Easy to do.

I’m glad someone has figured it out. Hopefully Morimoto uses that information and comes up with a fix. They’re still the best looking IMO.

Would be awesome, but getting a re-design, even a small update like that is rare. Once they offer a part and make their big time brand new sales, it's often not worth their time to alter something for the trickle of sales over the rest of the life of the vehicle model. I'd give my left nut for a reputable company to offer a nice set of headlights for my 03 and 04 Cobras. Retrofits are so expensive and the quality varies so widely.
