Here is where you are missing the point.... THE PARENTS should be telling the kid not to touch the vehicle!! The car owner should not have to say a damn thing. My kids learned early on.... very early on.... You do not go to the museum and touch things unless there is a sign saying this is okay to touch..... Cars at car shows are typically works of art.... thousands of hours go into them and I sure do not want some kid leaning over and scratching the paint with the button on his trousers. THE PROBLEM is the PARENTS not the kid.

You honestly think your kids never did anything wrong, never got in trouble or never disobeyed you ever? They were perfect angels 24/7? Get real.

Sure, if the parents are a-holes then it's obvious. Maybe kids are just kids and they get excited over a shiny car or big truck and all sense goes out the window. They're children for crying out loud.

The core of this isn't ducks, shoes, napkins... It is respect for others property.
I take my Bronco off pavement any chance I get, it gets covered in mud and dirt. It gets pinstripes, it gets chips and dings.
It isn't about if a duck will cause any damage.
It is about not touching other people's property without permission.

Again I think it's dumb anyway, but putting a rubber duck on a door handle is far from being disrespectful of someone's property or touching it without permission. This is a pretty hardline stance on a stupid kid's toy.

I get if people are sititng in/on it, leaning on it, etc. That's way different. A few years ago we were at the beach and my buddy has a nice jeep build and we had the doors off that day. We came around the corner and some guys were leaning on it and hanging out the door taking pics. We walked up and my buddy said "nice jeep, is it yours?" They said no and laughed. He said "it's mine, now f*ck off." They walked away and that was that. Now THAT is disrespectlful behavior. A rubber ducky on the doorhandle is not disrespectful

I have witnessed parents trying to place their kids on a Ferrari for a photo op.
Children are wandering the planet without adult supervision, not for years.
I have grandchildren now, when my adult children look at a car... They hold their hands behind their back and stay a step away from it unless invited to do anything else.
Because they were taught respect from a very early age.

Yeah it was one of those things where he knew so little that it was embarrassing. I don’t talk shit about what others do with their vehicle unless they’re deserving of it, but even then sometimes there is no point because they’re so ignorant to reality. Homie has a puck lift and zero offset wheels. Are they really going to understand why someone would lower their car and spread the control arm mounting points at the axle to counteract the moment arm created by a different accessory? Probably not.

No, that is touching someone else's property.
And touching someone else's property without permission is a lack of respect.

I remember what it was like, I had a father that was active in his local car scene.
And I remember his rule of look but don't touch unless invited to.
Did I do sketchy shit as a youth? Of course.
