12 v plug to ac adaption

Hello, I am new to this sort of thing but I wanted to be able to play my PlayStation in my bronco while I am camping and I heard that I can get a 12 V plug converter so I can use that as a plug. I was wondering, which one would be better for my bronco

It says that these have automatic shut downs and a bunch of other stuff and prevents low battery

If you are insistent on using that outlet than spend the money to upgrade the wiring and circuit. People have melted theirs. I wouldn't trust that outlet.

My friend, wanting to use a modern PlayStation while camping and planning to only spend around $80 on a Walmart inverter are two incompatible lifestyle choices. You are setting yourself up for breaking something that is going to cost a lot more than $80 if it even works at all. Like others have said, an EcoFlow or similar is highly recommended.

I hope this isn't a troll post, but...

So, you do have a Power Point in the cargo area (and another in the center console). Those are great for charging phones and running lights and stuff.

Yeah, they are supposed to be good for up to 20A. But don't do that. Anything over 10A and you are asking for trouble.

Now... 10A out of that, at around 12V.. is around 120W DC, and by the time you go through the inverter, you get around 100W on the AC side. That is the size of the second one you linked - but don't buy that one, it might charge a laptop but not much more.

120W won't run a Playstation and a monitor. A PS5 on it's own can be somewhere around 300-400W. Then you have a monitor on top of that, that's another 60-150W depending on what kind of monitor you got.

Now, the first one you linked is that big. More than big enough, it would power all of that. But not from the cargo power point - it would melt the connector and/or blow the fuse. Those bigger inverters are designed to be hooked straight up to the battery (with an appropriate fuse) - like via jumper cables or large gauge wiring. So, if you want to run some rather large power cables from your battery back to the cargo area and mount that bad boy up - absolutely, by all means - and many people have done pretty much exactly that. But it's not just a matter of plugging it into the 12V power point and expecting it to work.

You do have to be careful - while these products do have "low voltage cutoffs and safeties" - the Bronco's computers and battery are very delicate and sensitive to changes. You may think it's an off road beast.. but under the hood, the computers are pretty damn fragile. Just search these forums for weird electrical issues, and most all of that is caused by a weak battery or big voltage hits and the computers just absolutely flipping the f' out and throwing all kinds of random errors, codes, etc... You don't really want to push much off the starting battery that you don't have to, especially without the vehicle running and the alternator able to provide support. All that protection stuff you see on the package is mostly to protect the inverter - they don't really care if your car will start or not, and figure you know what you are doing.

The easiest solution, by far, as other people have recommended, is getting a portable power station - like an EcoFlow, Jackery, Bluetti, Anker, etc. They have their own battery, and their own inverter. You ~can~ charge them from the power point, but like others have said --- a lot of people have melted their power points doing so, even though many of these devices will limit themselves to 10A (120W). Most people will just charge them at home off the outlet, and bring them and that's that. Some will buy the optional solar panels to recharge them while they are out at camp or what not - which will recharge them but takes some time (and lots of sunlight). Very serious folks will buy a dedicated Alternator/Charger so they don't mess with the starting battery.

Will power any console and TV you want to run. For about 2-4 hours. On sale for cheap right now, can bundle it with a solar panel to recharge for not much more. It's powerful enough to run just about anything you would want to plug into it.
