UPDATE 9/29: Oracle's response to this thread was quick and productive. They agreed that the rust is excessive for the timeframe and provided a very fair solution (your results may vary, so I am being purposely vague). The customer service team has been very responsive and thorough. Oracle shared that the latest version of this product still uses a steel bracket/housing (not stainless or aluminum) but now has improved galvanization and coating.

[Original Post]

On 11/4/22, I bought the triple LED fog light kit for the modular bumper. They look great and worked but rust was forming on the powder coated steel housings within 2 months. I returned them on warrantee and got a new set and swapped them in. Now, the new set has rusted even more. Keep in mind the car is always garaged and still has only 22K miles on it.

The original warrantee is now expired. I contacted customer service, which offered me a discount for a third set, but the discount price is now higher than what I originally paid.

I still never got what I paid for.

Fog lights that can last 60 days before rusting? Rust stains are now setting in on my bumper.

I bought these because they weren't as expensive as many of the other options - live and learn?

Has anyone had this issue with other brands?

Retreading my previous post but this is far from the first durability/reliability issue I've seen with Oracle stuff. On the upside they seem to be fairly responsive on these forums.

Most of the dedicated offroad lighting companies are using aluminum housings - brackets are usually steel so they'll depend on a good stainless grade or coating to not rust. I have a Diode Dynamics kit with their brackets and it's stood up great so far, but there's no snow or salt here.
Baja Designs is another step up in price but with a pretty bulletproof reputation.

I guess Oracle makes so much profit they just don't care about the garbage they distribute. I'm thankful that I read enough reviews of their products to not be enticed.

OP, those brackets/housings can be saved if you're willing to put in the time and elbow grease. For the best results, remove all rust and treat w/ POR-15, then paint. Even if you got replacements for free, you'd want to strip them and recoat (paint or powder) to give them a shot at surviving.

Avoided oracle products mostly because of all the bad reviews I've read on here. Purchased Diode Dynamics a while back and have had no issues.

Looks like I will try removing them and doing a better job on them. Oracle said they would not ship me new housings - I'd have to buy a whole new set - but I can't do that on principle alone.

I was torn on this purchase because most foglight kits are sky-high prices for inexpensive hardware. On planet Earth, $450 should get me a quality set of foglights, and paying $1,000 should be reserved only for people who are rich or stupid.

But I clearly got hosed for being an early adopter for a new product that was underdeveloped and untested. I made a similar mistake with my BadAss Tents roof rack (newer versions are all aluminum, but my early model has some powder-coated steel and is showing signs of corrosion).

Lesson: Avoid powder-coated steel on outdoor items unless the product is already "proven" to last, or has a warranty longer than 2 years.

Yeah the prices can get crazy. I got the DDs open box for less that half of retail so that was hard to pass up.

This definitely isn’t the experience we want anyone to have with our fog kits, and I’d like to get this sorted for you directly. Could you shoot me a DM with your name & email? That way I can pull up your file and work with our customer service team to figure out the best solution here.

We stand behind our products and we don’t want you stuck with something you’re unhappy with. Appreciate you bringing it up — let’s get this taken care of.

I can't speak for other brands but OUR fog kits use brackets we make here in the USA. We use stainless steel + powder coat it black. The stainless steel we use ensures the brackets NEVER rust. It's also why our products cost a bit more BUT you get what you pay for.

If you're looking to get a new set check out our kits here. Use coupon code BRONCO6G and you'll save 10% on them as well

https://www.4x4truckleds.com/vehicle-specific/ford-bronco/2021-bronco/fog-lights/

The Diode Dynamics kits we sell utilize OUR KR Off-Road brackets (again made out of stainless steel here in the USA) along with the Diode Dynamics lights (which are Made in the USA).

The Baja Designs kits we sell also utilize our KR Off-Road brackets. The Baja Designs lights used to be made in San Marcos, CA but they recently moved down to their manufacturing facility in Mexico (Bestop owns Baja Designs, whom has a plant in Mexico so they moved it there). You could still call it "Made in America" just... North America :) Still VERY high quality down there.

Here is a short video of our brackets fresh off the laser cutter getting bent actually. This video was taken here on Long Island.

Same here, I am on my second set and they are also rusting. I am calling them to let them know. I am thinking of switching over to DD.

Same here, I am on my set set of Oracle fog lights. I am thinking of getting the DD. I have their ditch lights, and am very happy with them. I will be calling them to see if I can return them.

Some people got mad at me on a different thread when I pointed out reliability issues with their products and how so many fail just outside of the warranty.

Yes, well I will only speak to my experience, and I don't want to misrepresent anything. I am glad Oracle was willing to take a second look at my case. I hope to be updating this post with a positive outcome.

Why these are still made of heavy steel or alloy ok is ridiculous when you have high strength polymers that take way more abuse and weigh far less...
