It has been about 6 months since I started driving around with the Armadillo Designs hard top for my two door Bronco, this will be my review of Pros and Cons.
How it looks:
Going to start right from everyone's first impression of this thing, the looks. This roof looks absolutely stellar. the overall design just flows with the vehicle so much better than the factory hard top, especially when they are paint matched. The two door hard top only has one option for angle at the back because of the roll cage and it matches their square back but it still has a slight angle. So just on looks alone I'd say this is how they should come factory. Only down side for the two door is the fact that we don't have the same market for selling hard tops as the 4 door, so selling the factory top is a little more difficult. With that the price of the Armadillo Hardtop can be a hard pill to swallow... But their top will outlast the life of the vehicle so it can be worth the investment.
Pros: Looks are hard to beat.
Cons: Its pricey
How it sounds:
First thing you notice is how much quieter this hard top is from factory. The wind noise is almost nonexistent (except if you have a light bar, doesn't get rid of everything completely). The radio is easier to hear, it's easier to talk on the phone, it's just a more comfortable experience. I don't really have anything bad to say about sound level.
Pros: Way quieter than factory
Cons: Its harder to hear air leaks in you tires? I don't know lol
How it functions:
The other big selling point to this hard top is the overall functionality. This hard top is tough... Proof is in the pudding if you ever saw the BroncBuster video of him rolling his Bronco with an Armadillo Hardtop. With that toughness ads a level of safety to the vehicle over all. not to mention you can do things like stand on the roof without fear of damaging it. Im up around 250 and the panels don't even flex when Im up there. Two door functionality? Those gull-wings... Those things are absolutely massive on the two door. If you get the molle panel as well the added storage you get from space that used to be useless is pretty impressive. Only downside the the gull-wing is the potential loss to the window. I did a rear seat delete so rear passenger windows don't really concern me, but I feel most people that buy a two door didn't really do it for passenger comfort. Only other thing I'd complain about is the roof panels are definitely a little more difficult to take off that factory. These panels are big, they cover both the driver and passenger side. So removing them alone is a little more difficult. But the upside is there is also a panel in the back so rear passengers can also have the "roof off" experience without the need of removing the entire roof like you need with the factory one.
Pros: So much more functionality than the factory hard top. Massive gull-wings for added storage. Rear roof panel for rear passengers to have the roof off.
Cons: Roof panels are heavier so its more difficult to remove alone.
How it feels:
Driving on the inside there is a considerable amount of added space. I don't know the actual number but there is deffinetly a couple more inches of room for headspace. Im 6' so this extra room is definitely appreciated! Another cool thing that I like is the customizable headliner. Armadillo gives options when it comes to what color and design you want when it comes to the headliner. This adds to overall customization to the vehicle on looks that you can't get with factory. The liner also adds to the sound deadening with is nice. Only down side is it doesn't come with the hardtop so there is an extra cost applied.
Pros: Headroom and looks on the inside.
Cons: Liner does cost extra
How I feel:
Over all I am pretty happy with this roof. The looks are complemented by all the functionality that is added. There are so many more options for accessories that will never be available for the factory hard top. That along with all the other added benefits I'd say it's not only worth the time but it's also worth the wait (which can sometimes be a couple months). If your factory two door hard top is starting to fall apart like mine was, or you're just looking to upgrade this one might be worth the effort.
