5.0 Coyote V8 engine swap kit for Bronco 6th gen now available

Would I have spent an extra $5k when I bought my 21 for a Coyote option? YES. Would I have spent an extra $10k for a Godzilla option? More than likely, yes. Am I gonna spend $30k to upgrade to a Coyote? Absolutely not. If I'm gonna spend that kind of money, portals is a much better investment for off-roading. Is more power normally more fun? Sure, but the 2.7 already has enough power stock and I could get decent gains if I wanted to get a programmer and other after market power adders. There is no real need for a v8 in the B6G. If you want a sports car, buy a Mustang.

Now, If you wanna talk adding power and off-road ability at the same time, I cannot WAIT for an all electric version of the Bronco. It will COMPLETELY disrupt off-roading. 4-wheel independent motors, no axles or drivetrain to get hung up on, no wondering what gears to run, suspension not constrained on working with drivetrain geometries, center of gravity FULLY optimized by battery placement. It's gonna be a GIANT leap in off-roading.

My fear(we make an electric) is water shorting out the battery. That can be a huge explosion. Putting the toxic resulting fire out off-road is highly unlikely.

Salt water is the real problem. That one Tesla got a lot of attention during Helene when it was flooded and caught on fire in a garage, but how many other flooding fires have you heard about? Only a few, and again, it's the salt, not the water that's the problem.

yeah Tesla claims complete sealed system of the batteries against that but I don't think anyone believes it.

Personally, I think it's funny 99.9% of people carry around a lithium battery in their pocket every single day but they still don't think they're safe. The numbers don't lie, EVs catch fire MUCH LESS by percentage vs ICE vehicles. LMFAO "toxic fire", all vehicle fires are extremely toxic with all the plastics, paint, rubber, and metals burning.

I, for one, will be first in line for an EVB and will LOVE making other vehicles look feeble and silly off-road (and won't hesitate to take it through fresh water crossings).

We don't use the big hazardous container for fires in the factory of ICE. Weird you think it's hate, I love the idea of a good offroad option. The battery explosion/fire issue is a reality. We get a lot of training at the factory about it. I hope Scout figures it out! as for Tesla, I'm sure they plan for everyone to be watertight (as we do), there is a reality about mass production, tolerances and use stress, however.

Frankly I wouldn't want to sound like a Mustang. Every douche in town drives a Mustang GT with an overtly loud, raspy exhaust and they all sound like shit. Plus I don't want to wait til 4500 rpm to make any real power and constantly have to wind that bitch out to get any sort of go.

Plus I can tune the Bronco to make substantially more hp without any major parts swaps. Just bolt on.

I think oil consumption is a thing with the 4th Gen coyotes. Though, I never really hear any "horror" stories with them. I know the 7.3 Godzilla had its fair share of issues.

The 2.3 Ecoboost is a pretty stout, capable engine. Ford did a fairly good job on the 4 cylinder Ecoboost engines as a whole. they all have their quirks but they all just keep on chugging.

7.3 would work better with the over over drive 10 speed and allow you to run less gearing. Even blasting around at redline you will need more gearing with a high reving V8. Most think the 4.71 are all they need but there isn't much headroom to go up

naw the Raptor R gets 4.10s and 37s...5.38s and 40s will be a rocket compared...we dont need to go above 120mph in an off road rig ...

So you think a Coyote swapped into a Bronco with the likely 10R80 swap as well (for all practical purposes same ratios as 10R60) would need to be regeared? I think the only trans option for the 7.3 swap is 10R80. What is a specifc advantage of "running less gearing"?

it's the free lunch you get with the shorter levers force ( low gears) against the longer levers resistance ( big tires) all the while keeping the engine in The Sweet Spot that you seem to avoid with your turbo lag you complain about.... ever tried downshifting

I love the low gearing and tight ratios, but once you hit 7th gear…well, that’s when the TRX you think you’re keeping up with starts to walk away

If they make it emissions compliant, I'd love to know Ford's actual reasoning for not offering it from factory.

With that said, it's cool but I still don't see the need aside from to appease my caveman V8 noise desires.

Presumably CAFE. But the CAFE penalty is zero starting next year.

I want one. If for no other reason that I don't trust turbos for long term reliability.
