Which one did you bypass? I was out there last year and we went around the first one with the bend. It was a little sketch dropping back down onto the main trail and I'm sure I would have been better just going through it, but there were definitely already tracks from others doing the same. I don't remember that 2nd one, must have gotten worse this year.Took my wife and daughter out to Uwharrie for a bit this afternoon. Probably overshot my experience level and went down Dutch John (6/10 on OnX). Thankfully there were no issues with obstacles and no need to use 5he self recovery gear I dont have or be pulled/winched out by people I didn't go with. Only real concern were a couple of big mud slurry pits leading into rutted-out steep, slick, muddy climbs. Both pits had folks with built rigs, with at least 35s, get high centered throughout the last couple of weeks. Plus one 4xe Jeep took the wrong line going down one and ended up rolling into the drink and totalling his rig last week. FB Video Link) I'm currently getting my butt chewed on Facebook for admitting to taking an unofficial, illegal, no-good, very bad bypass. Treading extremely lightly on a bypass seemed the better option to ruining my Bronco and getting stuck in some deep mud without a way to get out.
I skipped the mud on both Falls Dam and Dutch John, one each. I ran the trails one direction and would have had the steep & slippery climb out. Probably could have slid down if I went the other direction, but I had no clue how deep the mud slurry was and I didn't want to cake my alternator in mud or risk getting any in my air intake (my family and I were running solo, without any real recovery gear). According to Facebook, these mud pits (especially Falls Dam) are much worse than previous years...not many people have been able to get up them; either high centering on the ruts or catching on their bumpers. There have even been 2 rollovers into the pits in the last 2 weeks.
IIRC with AdvanceTrac control, the rear brakes get used more than the front, by far.

What mount did you use for the traction boards? I have the trailrax mount but there is a huge air gap and creates a whistle on the highway. My next step will be trying to flip the mount to lower it and see if I can still mount the boards.Looking good!
