That looks positively horrible. Reminds me of when my Newfoundland gets the runs. Making me happy I live in the Southwest right now.

I can only think about the hours of work it would take to try to clean that crap off (assuming you actually got your rig through it).
I’d take the terrain of the Appalachian mountains and all she comes with over that dusty crusty stuff y’all have in the SW.

I live about 45 minutes from there but have never been. Are there easier trails? Not trying to destroy my rig first time out. lol

Took my wife and daughter out to Uwharrie for a bit this afternoon. Probably overshot my experience level and went down Dutch John (6/10 on OnX). Thankfully there were no obstacles and no need to use rhe self eecovery gear I dont have or be pulled/winched out by people I didn't go with. Only real concern were a couple of big mud slurry pits leading into rutted-out steep, slick, muddy climbs. Both pits had folks with built rigs, with at least 35s, get high centered throughout the last couple of weeks. Plus one 4xe Jeep took the wrong line going down one and ended up rolling into the drink and totalling his rig last week. FB Video Link) I'm currently getting my butt chewed on Facebook for admitting to taking an unofficial, illegal, no good, very bad bypass. Treading extremely lightly on a bypass seemed the better option to ruining my Bronco and getting stuck in some deep mud without a way to get out.

I've been told to avoid the D Trails...Dutch John, Dickey Bell, and Daniel. The others are easy-moderate. This was my second trip to Uwharrie and second trip off-roading (outside of the TN Off Roadeo). First time I listened to the advice, this time I took Dutch John. Outside of the rutted-out mud pits, the trails weren't too bad. Dutch had some obstacles that I was nervous about, but the Bronco is more capable than I am. I've gotten a bit of crap from the Facebook pages for wheeling alone and without self-recovery gear....which absolutely makes sense. I would recommend going as part of a group, especially your first time and if you're new at this off road stuff. "Do as I say, not as I do". Lol

That's the first thing I thought, too. The TN Off Roadeo was absolutely beautiful, a lot of fun, and I learned a ton...which probably gives me a false sense of security on the trails.

Hey Lorne @lwilliams34 ,
When did you go to the Maryville Off-Roadeo?
That would be wild if we were there at the same time.
I was there on 11-14-2024.

I was there on Sat May 31st. Part of a 12 day road trip adventure with the Shelby GT350.
Drove from Appleton WI to Stokesdale NC, then on to Concord NC to see the Mustang Owners Museum, next stop was Maryville for the Bronco event. Stayed in Maryville to 2 additional days and rode the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, etc. Final stop was in Nashville to visit a buddy of mine who I met at one of the TN Shelby Mountain Run events 4 years ago.
