The changes to the 2025 2.3 4 cylinder are not just duel fuel injection a higher up alternator and an aluminum valve cover. You will need a different oil filter compared to 2021-2024 broncos.

FL-2127 is the new filter.

Ford Bronco 2025 2.3 oil filter change from pre-2025 (FL-2127 and FL-500S both fit) PXL_20250620_153711651

I found this out only after taking out the old filter. I looked it up online but it showed the wrong one the Fl-910s, I also have a 2023 Ford Maverick that uses the fl-910s so I already had that filter and thought I had what I needed but it dose not fit. looking up the part number on the used 2025 filter showed the FL-2127 being the right one.

The FL-500s should fit the 2025 as well.

These all look like good changes. Cast aluminum valve cover sounds like a much more durable option compared to the old plastic one. The higher up alternator should give better river forwarding depth. Dual fuel injection will keep the intake and valves cleaner. The oil filter is a common one to other Fords. And it looks like there is more space at the front of the engine to change the alternator belt when that time comes.

FL-500s does fit

The FL2127 oil filter will fit too. It is the same as the fl500 just a bit shorter in length. The FL-500s was on the shelf at my local auto parts place and the FL-2127 would need to be ordered.

The besides the Bronco the Ford Mustang, Maverick, and Ranger have all gone to the FL-2127 with the newer Ecoboost with dual injection.

And here is a way to long list of compatible filters for if you are have problems getting the ford one. for the 2025 2.3L (These will not fit the older broncos 2025 and newer only)

The rest of the 2025 2.3 oil change looks the same. You need s 15mm socket for the 6 bolts on the plastic skid-plate on the Base and for the oil drain plug. You can still reach the filter from going over the front driver side tire.

FL2127 filter will have a bypass valve pressure rating of 11-14spi.
FL500 filter will have a bypass valve pressure rating of 16-20spi.
Running the FL500 might give you lifter tick on gold starts, but
I need to defer to @CarbonSteel for the expert opinion.

A higher bypass valve rating would mean that it would require more pressure to go into bypass, aka very thick oil with high RPMs at startup, which equates to higher oil pressure. Numerous studies have shown that bypass events happen far less often than previously believed, particularly when the correct viscosity oil is chosen for the ambient temperatures.

I would not worry about bypass events unless the vehicle is being started/operated at extremely cold ambient temperatures. As long as either of the filters meets the requirements, either should be fine.

That said, I would search for a compatible filter with 100% synthetic filter media instead of the cellulose media that Motorcraft typically uses so that I could have the most efficient filter possible.

What is this aluminum valve cover for the 2.3? Will it fit the 2022 Bronco?

Is the new 2.3 still a Mazda engine or is it a completely new Ford design?
The 2.3 ecoboost was never a Mazda engine.
Other than displacement and both being inline 4 cylinders, they don’t share anything from the old Mazda/Ford partnership

Some may think it was, and maybe it was loosely based off the same basic idea, all I’m saying is they have nothing in common other than being a 2.3 4 cylinder engine.
Every single part of them is different though, from the block to the valve cover.
Thank you for that clarification.

Do you happen to know the bolt and thread pitch of the drain bolt?
Think the bronco 2.3L is a good candidate for an oil drain hose... [no need then to drop skid] With the drop in the pan @ the drain hole all the oil w/hose can still get out.

Geez. I hope the drain plug is the same because I already bought a Fumoto drain valve for my upcoming 2025 2.3L..
