Anyone have threading issues during install? That top left bolt got about 80% in and stopped no matter what I did...

Yup, known issue. It is discussed in this thread. You will need to chase the holes with a tap.

Just tracked down the post, page 19 I believe. It’s wild how it’s the left side for them as well. 😂

Question, isn't the main value-add component of a tailgate reinforcement addition to beef up the hinges? I'm not seeing how Ford's version does anything outside of strengthening the spare tire bracket so it doesn't rip out from the tailgate (has that even happened to anyone with the stock setup?) Not trying to diss anyone's choice here, but I'm planning on buying one of these and in doing my homework, this one as an example seems to be way far ahead of Ford's in providing major structural reinforcement as it includes serious hinge upgrades. Please chime in if I'm missing something.

I think the same too - hinges are the same, hinges brackets seems identical to what comes with the vehicle per what people reported here, and also some troubles installing like cutting a piece of the tire carrier frame and some screws not going in easily, I decided to pick the budget option from RC that seems to do exactly the same job...the other approach is the 600$+ like you mentioned, but its pretty expensive and not sure if its reasonable

Hinges are most definitely not the same. You are getting the Braptor hinges with this kit.

Yes the TOR is beefier, but it costs nearly 4x more and is probably too much for most people. Heck, I will likely never run more than 33s on my rig but I still got it for the cosmetics and rock bottom price.

Agreed, the hinges are most certainly an upgrade over non Raptor. They are significantly beefier. Adding this kit took the annoying rattle out of my tailgate.

I placed this order about a month ago, and yesterday, I received an email from Ford stating that my order had been successfully canceled. When I called to ask about it, they told me it was out of stock. I said that was fine, and I’d be willing to wait, but they told me that waiting wasn’t an option—it was just canceled outright.

Whatever the reason, it’s frustrating for me. I used my Ford points to cover part of the cost, and it was also on sale at the time—I think it was around $100 off.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Ordered mine on 4/21. Called today(5/21) to specifically ask for it not to be cancelled. Was told it was scheduled to be checked on 5/23. It was cancelled 2 hours after I hung the phone up with ford. Did you ever sort it out? I also got a discount and used points to get it for a steal. Wondering what they are going to tell me. I still want it.

I had the same problem with the bottom left bolt as well. And I did exactly that ran a thread chaser in it and it went right in. I believe it was a M8 for the rest of you . I would check it before installing the hinge.
I tried this and my bit broke inside, at this point I'm considering leaving it in there and just cutting the screw shorter for it to fit.

Bought the kit back when it was dirt cheap and finally had time to install it this morning.
As posted previously, I cleaned out all the threads before reinstalling any new parts and had zero problems.
Did it myself using my adjustable table to keep the tailgate from moving while I swapped out hinges one at a time.
Pretty straightforward and easy job for me. Happy with the results and feel good when it’s time to get new, heavier tires!

Retail is now $495 (up from $310) …. lucky those that got it while it was in stock! Ford probably holding out on stock to cancel on remaining past orders to charge $185 more. 🤨

I was wondering what was going on… I ordered mine on 5/14. Still shows processing on fords website, and at my bank.

Yours will probably be canceled as well. Probably on or about 6/14. Seems like it stays in their system for a month then drops off. That’s what my order did with a month long hold at the bank on the funds. When I pressed a rep about this I was told it’s in their terms that they can cancel an order at anytime. So be prepared. I’ve also heard from someone in the industry that they show a backorder date of mid July. Good luck. I have decided to not buy from ford, turn off-road is looking more reasonable (and better built) now that the ford one is almost $500.
