Wow. I cannot believe this has happened again.

Cruising down the highway, during rush hour traffic, and the Adaptive Cruise Control slams on the brakes for no apparent reason (with ACC dash symbol turns Orange instead of Green).

I hit the ACC button to deactivate, and the Bronco gives the tell tale sign that the brakes vacuum system is struggling (whole vehicle is shaking, absolutely no power being transfered to the wheels).

Literally limped onto the shoulder before it came to a complete stop. Completely unable to get it to move.

Exact. Same. Issue. As. Last. Time.

The dealership struggled with it for days last time and ended up replacing the brake vacuum sensor.

Surely this is a design flaw though right? The vehicle should be able to transition from boost and still be able to pull a vacuum for the brakes no?

Anyone else have this issue?

And of course my warranty expired last year...

I’m usually not one to suggest this lightly, but given that you’ve been put in danger twice by a malfunctioning vehicle, you should consider talking to a lawyer to be sure you get a satisfactory outcome.

I used my cruise control on my 2024 OBX for the first time yesterday. Everything was super smooth on the way there, but on the way home with no warning the Bronco applied hard brakes, and I noticed that the collision detection showed an invisible vehicle in front of mine. The Bronco was trying to prevent an impact with a vehicle that did not exist. I'm definitely going to report this to Ford.

Not saying you guys are trying anything - just putting this out there since people are talking lawyers and all.

The collision detection system has a calibration procedure. Same thing that gets run if you ever have to replace your windshield. If you do anything that affects the height or rake of the vehicle - aftermarket tires, shocks, lifts, add a winch, etc. -- it can affect the collision detection. There is actually an entry when you do the calibration to set the height of the vehicle so the computer can accurately calculate the distance to things it picks up with the camera.

So, again, I'm not saying anyone here did anything wrong or anything - just so that you are aware, this camera and computer have this calibration that exists, and that it has some pretty finicky requirements, and to be sure you have met those requirements before you go throwing legal money at something that Ford could otherwise easily just swat down due to some very typical and common modifications that a lot of people have done to their Broncos.

Sometimes anti collision systems react to direct sunlight (straight into the camera with rising/setting sun) and shadows. More so if you’re going in and out of each.

Your brakes we applied, not seized. I was going to ask how you survived a total lockup at highway speeds, twice. I hope you get it sorted out.

Also, have you tried playing with the settings for pre-collision assist?

If it’s turned on and just activates when you think it wasn’t supposed to versus If you have it turned off and it did it anyway, then that’s a different issue all together

I'm thinking this more likely the cause. The only mods I've made to my OBX thus far are cosmetic or light functionality...none yet involving suspension, tires, or the stance of the Bronco. I'm thinking I won't be using the cruise often, I just wanted to try it out since it was my first "longer" drive anywhere.

I was talking to someone today who has a Ram and they said there anti collision had also activated randomly, so that seems to be more than a ford issue with these anti collision systems.

I’d be pretty upset with a major issue like this reoccurring, I hope you get a quick resolution.
