I almost bought one (convertible with upright seating for my bad back) just before the bronco came out…Bronco got me back into off roading, so double win…

I wonder what the thinking process was before this happened. "Let's see if I can destroy my undercarriage, and call someone for help." How about "I hate this thing so much, let me destroy it ASAP."

Having seen someone attempt something similar, and helping them when it didn't go well, I'm sure their undercarriage is just fine. Some of us just like to try different things. Like back when you had a BMX bike as a kid that wanted to try something new. The guy I was with originally attempted to go at a diagonal but lost traction and it ended up in a similar spot.

I will admit mine was a pavement princess for awhile but after a couple days of that I decided to check out some trails in Utah.

Love seeing a Bronco getting dirty still wearing a temp tag, especially a 2 door!

Here's mine in Glacier NP on day 2 of ownership:

One of my vehicles is a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. It's used exclusively to take my GSDs up the mountain to play. Sometimes I take them to town in it. It still looks better than some Broncos I've seen in this thread. I take it on firebreaks, forestry roads, etc. but I stay away from mud (I don't like cleaning mud). I can also judge whether it would fit between bushes/trees, and there are very few "pinstripes" on it. It's not worth anything of course, but it keeps my dogs happy, and out of my other vehicles. I would not do to this worthless Cherokee, what some of the people in this thread do to their brand new Broncos. I'm old. I made a lot of money, and I like spending money. I spend it lavishly, but I will not throw it away in order to inflate my ego, or to prove something to myself, or anyone else. You guys do what you like, and I'll do what I like. Isn't that what freedom is all about?

I hear you, to each their own. Simply stating that I don't believe he destroyed anything. And is clearly using it as he intended when he bought it. Same as mine.

I could have bought an old junker to go to off-roading with, but I don't feel like I would have been comfortable driving it 1500 miles round trip to Hidden Falls in Texas, or many of the other places I intend to go. Only paid around $40,000 for my Bronco and it's paid for. So once again, using it as I intended. Everyone prioritizes money differently.

Sure. But I didn't buy an "old junker". I own that Cherokee since new. 175K on the clock now. 4L straight 6 running like new. Dogs love it. My 2500 Sierra is a 1995 model (owned since new). 90K miles (original) on the clock. It never leaves the ranch now, and it's used exclusively for transporting gates, fence posts, fence rails, and anything else that needs to be moved from one point to the other on the ranch. When I want to play in the dirt, I take the CanAm Outlander 650 and play. I get it dirty, but as I said, I stay away from mud. I hate mud.

Breaking that seal and getting the entire underside filthy plus the rest of the truck - makes me a bit uncomfortable.
I love you guys with the mall crawlers with all the high-end off-road doodads... I'll be in the market when you are tired of it!!!!
Mine on day 4 of ownership.

There’s nothing I hate more than taking my vehicles on even gravel or dirt roads. When I was dating my future wife almost 40 years ago my future mother-in-law hated me because I would not pick up her daughter because they lived on a gravel road. She had to drive to town to meet me. It took her about 20 years to get over that but she likes me now.

I’m still the same way. I have a beater, V8 swapped Ford Ranger that I use if I have to leave the pavement. I also have side-by-sides if I want to do any wheeling. The upside is I have 30, 40 and 50 year-old vehicles that still look, run, and drive like brand new and that’s very, very satisfying and fun for me. To each his own though. I love living vicariously through the great folks on here that do serious wheeling with their Broncos.
I get that- also took my MIL ~20 years to like me- but I'll take a gravel road over a bushel of kids exiting a Yukon in a tight parking lot every day!

Way I figured it was I needed to rip that Band Aid off and get it over with. This is mine, about a week and a half after taking delivery, up in American Fork Canyon, as well as Moab and one night when I took my wife out to the desert after dark.

Look, so here's the deal - if you want to go to a bunch of cool places, the Bronco will take you to places 99% of Americans will never see. If you aren't into that, that's cool, too. I can still go to a mall if I really want to, but usually there's just way too many people there for me to be comfortable. :)

Edited to add: Soap, touch up paint and a buffer are cheap. Life experiences are priceless. ;-)

It does allow me to park on the Sidewalk, though.
