Do I need to add a
Spare tire reinforcement kit ??

any danger if I don't?
Or has anyone seen any sag on their door over time?

I have a 2023 Badlands (Non Sas)
I added new tire and Wheels. But I also have the Stinger Sub mounted to the swing gate.
From the info I've read online it says that the swinggate can hold up to 133Lbs. ??

Aside from daily driver, I do off-road both Baja style and Rock Crawl.

34LBs

67Lbs
Toyo
Open Country A/T III

Stinger swinggate sub

Total 113.5 Lbs

The only person that really knows about tailgate loading limits is the engineer that designed it. Are the hinges the weak link, or is it the tailgate sheet metal itself where the eight bolts that attach the spare tire carrier. Does the 133# take into account dead and live loads. What about a whack when you come down off a ledge? I have no clue. I put the Rough Country plate on mine. How much strength or stiffness does it add? Again, I don’t know. But it does add peace of mind for me. I carry the stock SAS wheel, KO2 315x17, and add two 2-gal rotopax when we go west. I usually only crawl, no Baja. But if I where to do it all over again, I’d probably buy the one you mentioned.

If you do any type of off-roading, I’d recommend getting a brace. Both the body and tailgate flex - a lot. If you’re not, you could go without one without worrying about it too much. IMO, for the price it’s worth the peace of mind to get one, I run the Hammer Built brace, no complaints.

Needed? No

Recommended? Yes

It isn’t common but some folks have had sag or other issues

Id say you may need some sort of reinforcement. I’ve had that model tire on my F350 and my Sierra 1500, and they’re a big’ol lump. I’d bet they weigh more than 67 lbs. the 37/12.5’s on my one ton with wheel are 150 lbs a piece, and they’re not really THAT much larger than the 315’s.

Those R/T’s are horrible crawling tires BTW. Hard tread, hard sidewall, and I’ll bet they’ll make your Bronco ride like a tank on the road. They’re hella noisy too at speed. They do however work pretty decent in deep snow despite what the rating/reviews say.

You probably weren’t asking for all that, just had to put my 2c in on those tires.

I agree. It's better just to add any reinforcement for peace of mind. Thank you

I totally agree, the tires are incredibly loud when on the freeway. And my bronco definitely feels like a tank.
I was originally going to go with the k03s. But the salesman tossed the R/T's out at me as an option and they were less expensive.
I should have done a little more research before committing.

Lesson learned.

Either way I appreciate the feedback, and I'm going to go ahead and order the reinforcement kit.

Thank you

The RTs are a great tire. IDK anything about rock crawling, but anywhere else that tire rocks! Dirt, sand, mud, pavement. Not that good on wet pavement, but anywhere else, great tire. Only tire I’ll run. Have them on my Bronco, and F150 Raptor.

Im in the same boat. Im thinking i want to reinforce the tailgate setup just for piece of mind. Im was looking at the Ford version because it seems like a hell of a deal considering the Raptor hinges alone are 250 each. But the reviews on it are trash. Not sure if they've fixed the issues or not. But it may be worth checking out for the hinges alone. Has anyone on here tried this ket yet?

My Bronco got rear ended by a car, the spare tire put a dent in the car hood. No damage to the Bronco tailgate, hinges or spare mount. I was pleasantly surprised, figured something would have gotten bent/twisted.
