I was looking at the KC lights bumper light bar when I noticed this factory looking hidden winch. Appears to use factory skid plate. . .

Can anyone identify this solution. . .because I want it bad!

It looks like the one from Rough Country, but the fairlead is attached to the skid plate.

That skid is not strong enough to handle the winch rope forces. Bad idea.

Not sure why people don't buy the LOBO hidden winch skid. Zero impact on approach angle, strong (unlike RC) and can reach clutch lever (no modification).

I have one installed built by Rouch Country, I saw another brand advertised recently but don't recall the brand name, it takes some rearranging of the components, so I had a 4x4 shop install.

yeah, thats a bad idea, if its on the skid - not strong enough, plus it's going to get bashed in... looks great, but no.

The RC one is installed by removing the existing kid plate and it comes with its own skid plate, I agree the pic does not look like there is a skid plate.

RC is total junk! Don't waste your money. It has zero provision for clutch access. Our first obstacle it buckled. Weak. Poor ground clearance. Don't bother.

If you rock crawl, the way this winch fairlead and hook is positioned and angled down is the worst possible angle. Your hook will get damaged on every rock, and if you leave it attached to the recovery point as shown in these photos, your rope will be gone very quickly! Bad idea!

I would love to, but after 2-3 years of waiting, Chris has still not adapted his products for the Bronco Raptor. At this point I’ll have to look elsewhere.

There isn't a good way to do it... that's why. I've carefully studied it. We are happy with the Carli bumper and did a write up and videos on it. Best designed bumper for weight, low profile, lighting and intercooler air flow.

I am a BIG fan of the Hammer Built.... Background: I used to teach mechanical design (as well as materials and processes, physics and other things) at the local university.... It places the Winch right where you want it to be if you are doing stress analysis.... directly between the frame rails and behind the crush zone that ALL new vehicles are required to have. Best structural design I have seen... Then they inverted the mount (winch is upside down) placing the free spool lever within easy reach. (Look closely at the left side and you can see the lever where the black arrow on the yellow sticker are) Yes it only allows for a short drum, but I do not need to winch more than 50 feet and I am winching on the first layer (Most mechanical advantage and advertised capability) far sooner than other winches. Huge advantage. Very impressed with the brand new Mile Marker winch they have paired with it as well. Yes it will cost you... MOSTLY because you have to go to a high mount intercooler.... Yet that offers advantages of it's own with considerably better cooling and less heat sink than the stock intercooler. Win -win but comes at a cost... buy once cry once right?

Here is a pick without the skid plate... look how high and tight that is..... You can hardly see it... and still gives a good couple inches of clearance to the skid plate.

And yes I coated all of my electrical connections with liquid electrical tape....

Oh and that little LED light is actually rather handy... You can see the line spooling... Not as well as a bumper mount winch... but that little light is nice, you can see the spooling. BUT please f=do not be a dumb ass and put your head down there to see the spooling while you are using the winch... stop then go look.... If you are down there looking while winching and the line breaks... It might well take your head off... Just saying...
