Getting a bumper that has cut outs for bumper lights, I don't wheel often and almost never in the dark but may do it in the future. Feel like putting something there is better than empty holes

Should I put in floods or spots? Also, can they be wired to engage when I put in reverse, or do I need to use one of the AUX switches and actually turn them on each time I want to use them?

flood. And yes depending on who you get the from, they can activate via switch or reverse, or both. I got my BD S1’s from SPV and got the harness that allows both but ended up just using the switch. They are silly bright and not needed for every time you put it in revers.

I went with floods. I figured that I needed them more for area lighting. I have Baja designs and yes they are able to be wired up to back up lights. I chose not too. Again just using them to light an area when I need it.

Thanks. Yeah, maybe you’re right and it’s not the best thing for reverse.

Looking at Rigid midnight series but they only come in spot - I can get the regular ones in flood but I liked the smoked lenses on the midnight edition. Weird they don’t offer the flood in the midnight edition

Floods! or a Combo if you really want a pinch of throw, but floods all the way… never a spot for the rear
Thank you, is there a benefit to ambers on the rear? The ADD website shows ambers so just curious

Looking at this one, would this work? What does spot diffused mean?

I like the RIGID pods with the SCENE functionality. You can use the SPV taillight harness to trigger them, and they have the RGBW function, so you can set them to 'glow' in red, and then activate by reverse light.

ALTERNATIVELY, get two parts (1) euro bumper's wiring harness, which has the rear fog connector in the middle, and (2) the euro switch set with rear fog button. You then tell forscan to enable that circuit and show the dash indicator light. Then it can be the switch for the rear pods, and is available when your headlights are in the 'on' position. I've done this with the Diode Dynamics spare tire kit using the C1Rs, but would like to jump to a bumper setup with more lights to improve rear lighting for both campsite setup/cleanup in the dark, as well as reversing in a trail.

So again, the SCENE pod lights from RIGID, which I have in my front bumper are awesome in the light throw's spread, Ideal for rear-facing lights. I have them in my front ADD bumper. And there's a few ways to do it, short list again:

  • SPV taillight harness
  • Aux Switch
  • DD taillight harness
  • euro switch and rear bumper harness

Agree on Flood (or Scene like the Rigid 682053) over combo and would not choose spot for rear at all. You're not going fast backwards. Get the light all-over and close, not compact and far away. The scene has crazy wide through at 115-deg, so its lighting up/down/left/right you name it.
