Has anyone heard of rear door failures under normal loading?

I always think about the Broncos used at the Off-Roadeos... Week after week they are on the trails. Nothing but stock tire carriers. Granted they aren't full days of pure rock crawling but still.

My order has not shipped yet. I am having second thoughts about this. Don't really need it, boight exclusively for the looks and because of the price. But I remember what a hassle the Mabett one was to install and I never managed to fully align it to the holes, so I just returned. Will probably call tomorrow morning and cancel if I can.

same boat man. I was about to pull trigger on Turn Offroad's or IAG's and saw this one. Going to run this (if I can get my hands on one) and see how it goes. Less than half the price so... worth a shot.

My gut says the Turn support is beefier. It also cost $700. But you can probably find a 10-20% off deal to help lower that cost some. And when I ordered their rear bumper, I got free shipping and no tax. So that helps reduce the gap a little more.

The Ford kit will still be 50-60% cheaper.

Next question becomes how much weight you need to support and how you wheel. Sure total weight matters but also how you use matters. Driving on the streets doesn’t result in as much jarring or stress. Taking on the trails and sending it when terrain is rough & uneven creates more stress/jarring effects. More weight and more jarring/stress compounds the issue.

I went ahead and ordered one for myself but have a pretty good discount worked out on the Turn support as well. Also, I’m considering Turn’s newly released bumper with swing out carrier which should do a better job than any of the braces.

What is normal? Saw a Matt’s Recovery video awhile back where a guy trashed his tailgate because of picking a bad line and sending it when Matt told him not to do exactly that.

Think of it like your knee. All is good under normal operations and with normal weight. However, if you cut hard trying to juke, or someone or something hits your knee and causes it to move in an undesigned motion and things go ouch.

Not sure if you’ve seen the Turn video or not. Obviously install varies from the Ford kit; however, the video does go into a little more detail about getting things aligned back.

Good points. I know the Turn one can handle the weights, and I know the FP one is for the Raptor with 37" tire, but how good will it be with a heavier tire?

@flip has had this on a few of his vehicles and this is what he had to say about it.

I put this on my '22 non-sas and now on the '23 SAS and went to 37"s. Should not matter sas or not as the hinges and reinforcement will work on any gate. The caveat is a corner of the carrier will have to be nipped to clear the reinforcement. Not a big deal and won't be seen after everything is installed.

With this said, beside the hinges, I don't feel it offers much if any real structural benefits. There aren't any provisions for mounting accessories beside maybe a flag for dune running or additional light (as indicated by the molded in icons). IMO, this might help with some panel flex if you're throwing a 37" on the back but it's mostly decorative.

I have the IAG brace on my '24 but no plans on accessories at this time. At the time there were no accessories for their brace but their site indicated some were in the works. Put it on more for the aesthetics and went up to 37s.

I’ve had 37’s on for over a year, with no tailgate reinforcement on my 22’ Badlands SAS, never heard any noise or issues. To get essentially a Raptor OEM product that was designed explicitly for 37’s, and at half the price of TOR, seems like a no-brainer to me.

My order still says “processing”, (feels like 2021 again waiting for Bronco orders!) but I expect I’ll be happy with this purchase, even though it’s like insurance, I’ll never know if it did anything in reality, just peace of mind I guess that my tailgate won’t fall off
