Got my Stinger sub and amp installed yesterday. I went with full bundle that included the sub/enclosure, amp, mount and all the wiring needed (link below). The only other part that was needed for the base audio system was a Line Output Converter. Otherwise, the package included everything that is needed for install.

Man, this package absolutely surpassed my expectations. I wasn't trying to wake up the neighborhood every time I drive, I just wanted full sound so I could enjoy my music while driving. Well, I have to turn the volume, or the bass, down driving through the neighborhood because it will definitely wake folks up. Hell, even my installer noted how impressed he was by how loud, clear and deep the bass was from this sub, especially being just a single sub.

Too chilly in the midwest right now to see how it sounds with the Bronco fully undressed but I have no doubt it will be more than sufficient.

If you are on the fence about adding this upgrade, jump off the fence and do it, you won't be disappointed.

I'm debating between the 10" tailgate sub or the 12" sub. What are the pros and cons of the two, from those that have tried them?

The B&O sub enclosure is just fine, just need to plug the port and add a trim ring, more bass than I could ever want...and I've got better things to do with my rear door than add the weight of a sub! lol

In general - a bigger cone will give you deeper bass but require more power for same sound pressure

That’s a big generalization though and specific speakers will require what they require.

If space isn’t a constraint - bigger is better. You can find great subs in both sizes though

Don't forget the enclosure size, big speaker in small box won't get you what a small speaker in a bigger box will yield, just sayin'!

Well, sub enclosures are an entirely different discussion, and, at least if you are doing it correctly, closely coupled to subwoofer selection.

But you aren't wrong, in general, bigger box = more bass. But not always. FIguring out an sub/enclosure pair properly entails a lot of math and wizardry and some arcane and supernatural elements as well. Most people will just go with the "recommended volume" or get a pre-assembled pair and call it good, and it will sound pretty good.

Every sub comes with it's stated requirements, a little simple math solves your concerns...I doubt anyone's 10 or 12" with reasonable power is going to sound any better or deeper than my 8" in the4 stock enclosure!

The first part of this is a car-audio misnomer.

Bigger cone means higher sensitivity, when comparing apples to apples, or the same sub of different sizes. This means it requires less power for the same SPL.

Update on the Stinger system mentioned in my previous post. Still couldn't be happier with it.

This past weekend was the first time I have had the doors and the entire top off since having it installed (weather and timing just hasn't worked out well so far this spring/summer).

With the doors off and the top on, still get that full sound, deep bass.

With the top and doors off, the acoustics are obviously changed. That said, it still sounds way better than stock. The bass isn't as deep but it is still quite the noticeable difference.

For anyone looking, the Stinger package does not disappoint.
