So those are the main parts. I'm sure you can possibly find cheaper elsewhere on some parts. However the main thing you need is the dash. Not sure how much Ford has them listed for. I'm been wanting to get a spare 8" dash and see if it's possible to modify it to fit 12" and still look stock.

Thanks man! Seems easy enough, I'm guessing the pigtail is needed to be wired up somewhere

Yeah that extra wire is to provide 12 volts to screen. So all I did was wire to an ignition on fuse.

Hey! Following up on this a year later because I finally started buying the parts. Are you still rocking the 12" upgrade? How has it been treating you since install? Any issues? Thanks!

Nice work finding way cheaper parts than buying them direct from Ford! Of course, I was stuck buying from them back in early '22. Glad to see the parts costs have removed at least a zero. Might be worth my while to buy another 12" screen since mine gave up on life already, but that also was a well-known early gen problem.

I'm not sold on it; both did what I needed them to do; never had a problem with my 8"; 12" already quit working, so back on the still-functioning 8". Yeah, it's a larger screen, but off-road it's a lot harder to hit the button your finger is actually trying to hit, where it's far easier to brace your hand on the 8" frame. If your is a pavement pounder, then that's not a problem. I've seen the Ford Nav, and I still swear by Google Maps for Nav because they use the telemetry of a significantly larger pool of users so their traffic info is far superior, so I can't sell Ford Navigation as a benefit. I took pride in having installed it and having a working conversion, but I don't know if I'm going to go back to a 12" screen. Maybe if wifey wants to put my 8" + Sync 4 into her '21 F-350 (last year Sync 3 in Super Duty Platinum's I believe), I'll charge her to buy me the 12" screen again, maybe even lower in cost than they are today. Plus side, it's been done, parts are way cheaper, and this is a great forum for any questions on how to do it, and it's easy. If you get into the programming, it's a real confidence booster too; lots of us on here have flashed many different series Fords (and more)so it's a great place to learn that stuff. You can even update your modules as well, if updates are available, and no you won't be told by Ford you have modules needing to be updated- you must ask them to update them for you and hope they actually do it at the dealership. BTW not all of the APIMs accept an update that's out there and it may fail and that is OKAY, but that's not really relevant to this thread.

All that said, it's a nice accomplishment to be proud of, and it looks "right" with the 12" screen; props homie! Just don't want those with 8" screens to feel like they got shafted- I approve of both, it's only personal preference
