I get limiting options as things were out of hand, but the V6 takes me out, I was thinking about going back to a 2 door this year since 4 doors are everywhere now, but the price on a Stroppe is ridiculous and no V6 Badlands, I guess I'm out.

Yeah... unfortunately... this is a reflection of sales—or lack thereof.

What killed the Bronco back in the 1990s was the fact that it was 2-door, Ford ultimately replaced it with the 4-door Expedition. The 4-door Wrangler exists because Jeep needed it to keep the Wrangler afloat. And the existing Bronco would not be possible unless Ford offered the 4-door.

Those of us who are manual transmission enthusiasts have been in a similar position for the past two decades. Economies of scale is needed to build these vehicles, and if the scale isn't there they have to make cuts. The only other option is to increase prices on the less-popular configurations.

Which brings up a good question: How many of you would buy a 2-door Bronco if it cost more than a 4-door Bronco???

I disagree since it takes an Old Man or Woman to teach a youngster how to shift their gears.

My 19 yo Daughter drives my Base 2D MT while her HS Drivers Ed Instructor was surprised she could because he didn't know how when they compared their '21 Broncos

That's why my DD proudly explained, "That's why my Dad says it a Millennial Anti-Theft Device"

YMMV but I know My Girl loves her MT
By the time a millennial was old enough to purchase a truck, 1% of trucks on the lot were manual 2-doors and the everyone gets a trophy generation began in the late 1800s earlier 1900s when "handicap", was added in golf/bowling/trap. Manuals went away because Boomers hated them, not because millennial's want a safe space.

Don't get in the way of an emotionally satisfying rip on a younger generation. What are you, a heathen? C'mon! We all know the truth. All these childless youngsters buying 4drs for their non-existent kids, oops! Wait, they don't drive at all!! Wow, ok, see if we went back to the Model T, things would be awesome, cuz nothing was wrong with that generation (that anybody living can remember)! And hard builds character!! Or at least reveals it? Who knows! Let's just be angry!

Both of my kids (both in their 40s) had to learn on a manual transmission. Both of their first cars were manual transmissions as well. I’m glad they know how to drive them even if they don’t need to anymore.

when my daughter first drove the Bronco. She was very excited that she could drive it still. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that its the easiest manual transmission I’ve ever owned.

The trend towards automatics isn't limited to one generation. Even back in the 1970s most cars were automatics. As a Boomer I was lucky enough to have a father who taught me how to drive a stick, but my parents' main cars were automatics. So were their neighbors', and almost every car I got a ride in before I owned my own.

I liked driving a stick enough to go out of my way to get one each time I purchased a vehicle... up until my current one, where I didn't have a choice for a daily driver with low step-in height for my wife that also fit both of our weird body shapes. My upcoming Bronco (offer should be coming in today) will be a stick, though!

It's not a trend, more of a standard. I'll keep my 2 door though.

I think the 2-door looks better. I love how they look. If I had the money, I'd have a 2-door and a 4-door. But I bought my Bronco to use, not to look at.

Strikes against a 2-door, small gas tank (16.9 gal vs 20.8), less cargo capacity, payload, 4-door Badlands has 160 lb more capacity than 2-door Badlands, back seats less accessible than 1960s VW Beetle. They're OK for kids or teenagers. But I have adult friends I may want to take off roading. My other car is a Subaru.

Strikes against the 4-door? Slightly less maneuverable (6 ft larger turning circle), but that hasn't been a problem for me. Looks, see above comment.

There is no such thing as a "best" choice. We each have different reasons for buying a Bronco.

If Ford made the 2dr a little longer (maybe 6-8" longer), made the already long door a little longer, and put 4-6" of that in the back, I still don't think that would make that much of a difference for the 4dr crowd. It might make a fine off roader (see: LJ) but having the second set of doors seems to be the difference that matters, because people buy what they can see and would awesome they needed those extra doors.

For me, I have to squeeze into the narrow 4dr doors, so I'd not have one probably if there weren't 2drs.

I learned to drive with a manual I mostly drove my Dad's F-100. I also drove our Galaxy which had an automatic. But when I took my driver's test to get my license, I drove the F-100. At that time Arizona would put an "automatic only" restriction on your license if you took your driver's test with an automatic. Times sure have changed.

I was seriously considering a 2-door. It was the poor back seat access that killed it for me. I like my friends and I don't like to see them suffer. :)

Sure. I've had a dozen different people in the backseat of mine and they always had good/surprising things to say. Would they have preferred their own door? Sure. I'm sure being back there too long without direct AC, they'd probably start to complain.

I guess my point is there are more people driving 4drs "for no reason" than people driving 2drs "for some reason". I'd like more room in the back and a little better access to the back seats, which I can barely get in myself, but that doesn't really take into account that the 5g, for instance, was much larger inside but still managed to go the way of the dodo.

I am glad they make 4drs so they are able to make 2drs but 4drs do make me throw up alittle every time I see one (much like them crew cab trucks with a 4’ bed). Not offering a 2dr with a v6 is crazy (that Stroppe should have had a the raptor 3.0 to go with the racer vibe and make it worth the money). If ford really wants to go at Jeep they need to offer actual 4x4 capability…

We wanted a 2dr to tool around town in with 2 peoples and I am pretty sure we would just do a rear seat delete in it, just like a sports car which I have with no back seat either.

🙋‍♂️

If it came down to it I'd also pay more to get the 2.3 over the 2.7 and more to get a 7MT over the auto.

Just watch, the 2dr will be gone for gen 7.
