Good morning! Hope I can get some guidance here.

I have a 2021 FE with 40k miles and besides the front camera working only when it wants to, and the super rare occasion of the screen taking a few minutes to change from the Bronco image, today I was presented with a whole new issue.

When I got in this morning I started it and it had the Bronco screen then just went black. I started driving thinking it'd wake up soon... No luck. I turned off the Bronco, then back on and it did the same thing.

CarPlay was indeed connected just fine because my Spotify was playing.

I then did the Power/Volume + >> Button reset which did reset it but then back to black after the Bronco.

15 miles down the road, the screen randomly turned on and worked fine.

Stopped for coffee and when I got back in, screen worked but then a mile down the road it reset itself, turning off and on again.

Any ideas?! Last OTA update shows "Center Display Improvements"... is this causing a weird issue? Or is something f*cked? lol

Strange, since this last update my console has randomly rebooted, and restarting while I’m driving. I definitely think that there this software update is the issue. 23 OuterBanks.

I'm kind of hoping it's this and not a hardware issue lol.

Mine is doing the exact same thing, driving me nuts. Started since the last update. I have a 22 Wildtrak, and hubby also has a 22 Wildtrak, and his is not doing it. I tried to run an errand yesterday, had to sit in the driveway and restart the darn thing, I just had a black screen, or sometimes the screen just gets stuck with the horse image.

You're not the only one. I've had strange intermittent issues with my screen as well in my 24 BadSas since the last OTA update. I've only encountered bugs, not improvements.

Mine did this for the first time a week or so ago. Now it’s working fine.

This happened to me this morning, just black screen. Android Auto works fine, HVAC works.
I tried resetting a couple times on my way to work, it would reboot, show the Bronco horse splash screen, and go back to black.
I don't know how to check when the last update was, I haven't figured out the new FordPass app yet...
I am almost out of warranty, so I will probably stop by the dealership to at least get this issue documented.

Hey there. I'd like to take a look into your screen issues on my end. Can you please send over a message with your VIN and estimated mileage to get things started?

My wife’s does this too. Had ford service look at, useless. Hers is 21 badlands lux. Sometimes the backup camera freezes. Get the black screen of death often. Sometimes the screen takes forever to boot up. So many bugs. So disappointing ford can’t figure it out.

I was having the same issues after a software update. Sometimes screen would be black, freeze on the horse animation, CarPlay taking almost a minute to connect. While driving with Spotify the sound would cut in and out and then stop playing all together requiring me to reboot the screen. And other annoyances as well.

After getting fed up I disconnected the negative battery terminal for about 6 hours (I forgot to set a timer to connect it back) and then connected it and waited 10 minutes and turned on the bronco and waited another 10 minutes just for good measure.

that was about a month ago, not a single screen freeze, no black screens, CarPlay connects within 10 seconds, no connection drop. Interface is much snappier to move around menus, Literally night and day difference. If you haven’t tried that I would suggest it.

Funny after last update my small screen blacked out today driving home.(first real drive)And hands free text no longer works. That might just be a setting. These are going to be expensive vehicles to keep working normally after warranty. Too glitchy. Ford needs new electrical/system engineers. It’s not specific to the Bronco. All three of our new Fords and recent past are glitchy. Bronco is just worse. But dam I love the thing.

I really can't comment on the screen blacking out though mine randomly reboots.

As for the front camera, had the same issues and had the dealer replace it and have not had any issue with it since they did that.

I have had this same issue on three fords and on my bronco. It's a problem with the APIM module. My dealership confirmed the same on the bronco and said they are back ordered.
