I’ve got an issue with my bumper sensors going off in stop and go traffic. Sometimes even if no one around me. I’ve turned them off in the menu to no avail. I called for a service appointment to get fixed and it’s almost five weeks out. That means driving for another five weeks with those annoying sensors going off constantly. That’s ridiculous. Anyone else seeing such long waits for service or is it just my area in Georgia.

Par for the course out here in Northwestern WA as well. When they do finally get you in, they screw it up royally, so I avoid them at all costs.

That's the biggest reservation about buying another Ford. I'm going to need to replace my F550 here in the next year or so and am seriously considering going with a Chevy. The dealer that takes care of my spousal units' Suburban is outstanding.

It’s not just your area.

Apologists will say there is a tech shortage, and remind you that each dealership is owned individually.

The reality is my wife’s Subaru gets in & out in less than a week at different locations. My parents own a Toyota and a Honda, same results with great service.

Fords service departments are sub par and always feel shady. It’s the only thing keeping me from buying another one.

There are Ford techs here whom apparently work at “good” dealerships but they seem to be the exception not the rule.

I was told recently that Ford is absolutely buried with warranty work. A lot of vehicles coming back for repeat warranty work. Parts issues and poor quality control during builds.

I recently upgraded my speakers and upgraded my R/T/B lights to LED as well as my backup lights. The process included the removal of several panels and trim pieces that are held together with nothing more than plastic clips. It would appear to me that some of these vehicles were just slapped together and sent down the line. Some clips were missing, some broken and some were bent over after missing the guide hole. The dumbest clip ever made has to be the push in clip with the plastic phillips screw. I don't care how delicate you are, they do not thread out. I replace them with the friction fit plugs that can easily be removed with the trim removal tool.

Mine's been in the shop for a month waiting for a replacement MIC top. The replacement that came in needed to be replaced.

Sadly, I'm not surprised. A good dealership will at least offer to compensate you somehow even if only by throwing some points your way. Mine always offers me a loaner and I decline. Someday, I might really need one.

Mine has long lead times, but they offer me a loaner if they have any. They had one of mine 5 out of 8 weeks. Came back first time and said it was fixed, noise was there as soon as I left. Called them back and returned it when they had a loaner, second time and 3+ weeks later they said nothing was wrong with it.... Well my ears told me differently. Frustrating.

Do you still have the aftermarket bumpers? Ford might give you crap for that (i.e. not covered under warranty). Also, you might see if a reputable local service shop can help you. Probably much faster.

Stock bumpers are long gone. But after swapping the sensors to the aftermarket bumper, they never worked right so I shut them off in the menu. I don’t care about em anyway. After shutting them off they have been quiet for the past 8 months or so. Now going off all the time even though in the menu, it still shows them off and the icon on the dash shows them off. I don’t want them to fix them, just to see why they are not turning off all of a sudden.

I’m wondering if I can just cut the wires going in and out of each sensor and solder together effectively bypassing them to shut them up.

That’s crazy. Last time I was at the dealership for oil change which was in June, I asked them how long the wait was for warranty work and they said 2-3 days to look at it then waiting for parts, etc.. unless it’s transmission or engine work which was a week behind. A month is wild you should probably check other dealerships

Oh, ok. I wonder if you got betrayed by an OTA update. That’s always my fear.

You mentioned shutting them off in the menu, but what about the button? I have to turn mine off on trails or it drives me nuts. It would be annoying needing to hit it every time you get in the car, but it's better than having to actually listen to them while you wait for your service appt.

My dealer here is only one week out for appointments. Just scheduled a service yesterday for oil change/tire rotation, etc, for next week. 5 weeks is too much.

Hmm, I'll talk to one of our techs and see if there is a solution for you in the meantime.

As for Ford dealers being booked out for 5 weeks.... sounds like they are short techs for sure. We are usually booked solid for 2 weeks out.

In the summer with tech's/ service staff/ parts staff on vacation we also don't take as many appointments, so I'm sure that's having an effect.

And to the person who said their subaru goes in an out in a week... yea, not the same type of dealer at all. Ford Dealers service a lot of work trucks and fleet vans. Dealers that don't have fleet vehicles will for sure have slower paced and less busy service departments.

I'll get back to you after I talk to a tech.
