Anybody have or have access to the windshield wiper software update box?
Ford Bronco Anyone have/access to the windshield wiper software update tool? IMG_1228

I’d love to DIY this if possible since in my area getting service appointments is very difficult and come with a lot of lead time and my trust level is subterranean. Thanks!

It's not available for sale as far as I know.

Ford shipped one to each dealer to enable them to perform the update as part of the customer satisfaction program. And as far as I know it's not a stand-alone tool you can buy on Rotunda or anything like that.

I could be wrong though, @Ducati1098 would probably know better.

I’ll check on rotunda’s website tomorrow, but I highly doubt it will be on there.
Like @RagnarKon said, this is likely a dealer only tool.

Yeah there isn't even a part number on the flash box. Only way to get it is from Ford directly. Even dealerships cannot order multiple ones.

Thank you very much for your input! Do dealerships keep specialty tools like this in a tool cage that technicians then request from based on their repair order? The documentation has the end of the year as the end of the program so after that point can the update still be done but at a cost?

If available in your area, per the TSB, you can get a mobile repair for this.

I typically avoid dealerships as well due to the lead times, how long they need to take my vehicle (with no loaner cars available) and sometimes the level of competency of the techs. I had to get my wipers flashed, they were inoperable and dangerous in the rain. They got it done super quickly, and I didn't even have to leave the dealership. They also installed my performance tune so I'm not sure how long the actual process for the wiper flash is, but its not long at all. If thats all you need at the dealership, go get it scheduled and completed. You will be so much happier with functional wipers.

Thanks, who’s your dealer? I’m also in the Denver metro and mine, Phil Long, is proving challenging to get beyond voicemails with and were effected by the recent dealership software issues. Also, how much to install the tune?

Need to visit Phoenix. My local dealers have called harassing me offering to do it in my parking lot.

I think they are bored. Told them no thanks, don't need my dash tore apart for a non issue.

Every dealer is different as far as special tools. We just have them all kept in a single area, not locked up or anything.
Specific specialty tools like this usually stay on top of our shop foreman’s tool box.

And yes, it can be done after the program expires. Ford just wouldn’t pay for it at that point.

Nothing to add except the update completely fixed my wipers, even though my build date was after the "effected range."

What year is yours? I honestly haven’t been too effected by the potential issue. Mine isn’t my daily and when I drive it’s usually fair weather. Using them after a car wash I always thought the wipers had a smooth, sophisticated and nonchalant movement to them. 🤷‍♂️

It’s only one small cover that pops off 🤷‍♂️

They can do it right in the drive ( takes longer to write the repair order then the reflash).
Or, they can come out to your place ( home or work) with their Mobile Service Van.
I took the column cover off ahead of time so they didn’t have to and they did it in the drive in under 30 seconds. Took longer to have them write the repair order and run the OASIS 😎

Thank you, I think I just have to visit my service department in person to make an appointment as trying to reach them on the phone is very difficult.
