there wifi update process is a joke. It took a month for my vehicle to finally update with the last patch. My wifi signal is excellent in the garage. They should allow the old process of allowing us to download the updates to usb and flash the updates that way. its way faster flashing the updates by usb. with this patch i may see it by xmas

I have disabled all connectivity because Ford cannot be trusted with the data they collect.
Hello, did you do so by the nipping off one of the tabs on the proper fuse?

Have they abused user collected vehicle data in the past? Honestly curious whether there have been any past incidents, or if this is more of a general mistrust

No, just turned them off completely in FordPass. Not just telematics but everything. I may or may not turn them on once a year when I am out of town and the vehicle is parked in my driveway.

Turns out that when you turn on telemetry they collect information such as speed, acceleration, sharp braking, which then they share with a company (forget its name) that creates a risk score for you, which in turn is sold to insurance companies. There is vaguely worded section in the T&Cs that alludes to this possibility but not in way that makes it clear what they do

Ford does such a great job giving vague descriptions of the updates… So helpful

No issues with update. All is well. Can’t find anything new except for this. You never know, may come in handy. Thank you everyone, but I think I will keep my updates on.
