Got dual tops with my order so I’m about to do this same thing. Any tips on the install? I already removed the brackets to install a Diabolical slipstream so they are no longer where they were from the factory.
I’m with you, totally unlocks a new level of the Bronco. There’s a lot of whining here on how loud the soft top is. My last Bronco ford bought back came with a soft top and it was fantastic, that’s why I got both this time. Honestly not much louder than the hard top In my opinion.
NOOOOOOOO!
No one should ever take those brackets off, at least not without marking their location.
If anyone is ever reading this - never take those off!!!!
What I learned:
Take off the spare tire and drop the brake light - it's a wonderful idea that you'll get the roof on in 1 try, but you won't.
Protect your roll bars - I scratched the living hell out of mine - need to get them painted properly.
When tightening the bolts on those miserable brackets - they move really easy and creep out of position - which you just busted your butt trying to correct in the first place.
Be careful, be careful, be careful - and find a strong friend with patience.
Don't expect the right bracket to be in the same exact position as the left when adjusting.
The roof is going to be tight putting it on, sun helps, and work slowly to stretch the pieces out.
If you get to a point where you've had it on and off 4 or 5 times - put it down, step back, take a break and try again - very easy to get sloppy and exhausted. I think it took us 6 or 7 times to get it right, not only do you have to get it correct front to back, but you have to get it squared off.

For me, it's just a summer top - So as far as noise - who cares? It's a rag top that I open as much as I possibly can. I would feel completely different if I didn't also have the hard top and had to live with it in the cold but I am unbelievably thrilled to have it for the summer. It's really like having 2 different vehicles - I'm going to miss it in the winter with the hard top on.
My expectations for the soft vs hard are completely different so it's all good.
But you're right it's not that much louder, but the hard top was unacceptable to me so I did the sound / wind proofing stuff which made a world of difference. So win/win.
The biggest mistake I didn't know I was making was not buying both tops from the start. But I found one on line - cost me a bit more, and lesson learned.
