When walking out to the parking lot of the bowling alley last night I noticed my bronco got broken into from the driver side window. The window is completely smashed. They took some valuables inside. Super bummed but wondering how to get this fixed asap. Do I take it to any of the local body shops and ask them if they can replace it? Also would you claim insurance on this or just pay out of pocket so the insurance doesn’t increase the rate?

I’m in Los Angeles and would appreciate some recommendations of a reputable place where I can get this fixed.

Sorry to see this.
M2DZ-9821411-A is the part number for the window. Any local dealership should be able to handle the replacement, no need for a body shop.
As far as insurance, that’s up to you. You can find the glass online for around $300. I don’t know how much labor would be, but probably not too much more.

Besides the cost of the glass, there's the valuables. Sometimes covered br Homeowners policy.

I had Sefelite replace a drivers side window on my Grand Cherokee that got broken by a rock from a passing semi-truck. They came to the house and got it done quickly for about what my deductible was. I paid out of pocket.

I just did a quick quote on their site, $410.

Not sure how many claims you have but with my insurance I had 2 prior windshield damage claims. I called about rock chips on the bronco and they said if I file one more I’d be up for non renewal. Luckily I was able to get the company whose dump truck was dropping rocks from the gate to replace the windshield. I would call your insurance agent and see what they say. Worst case you pay out of pocket. I have the ford acessories safe in my center console and it’s nice, small but nice.

Amazing how thieves do it. Looks like they broke it, and pulled it out all in one motion. Were you in a dark area? Doesn’t look like it, looks pretty lighted. What’d they get?

Absolutely maddening! What exactly did they see and then steal? Any broken windows on those other cars?

Happed to a buddy of mine last year so don’t stress it. Break ins have been the new trend lately. Just make sure whoever replaces the window gets all the glass shards in the panel otherwise every time you shut your door it’s going to sound horrible.

Just take it to a safelite and pay out of pocket. If your insurance has free glass coverage then you might wanna use that. If not, it’s not worth filing a claim for glass. If you were to go out of pocket, It’ll probably cost you anywhere between $300 and $400 for OEM. Also keep in mind if the broken window was tinted, the new one will not be so if you get it replaced by a glass shop, I would recommend taking it to the dealership after so they can tint it and make sure they match the tint

Being that I have a $0 deductible, the math would be easy.

If I were in LA these days, I'd probably just leave it unlocked with the windows down!
Or move.. Pay out of pocket.

Mine was broken into a year or so ago. I went the insurance route, as after inspection, the paint on the door had been damaged too. So that had to get repainted. Fuck thieves
