When I am doing work on my Bronco, sometimes I back it in and to have some room at the back, I'll stick the nose of the Bronco out.

I always block the sensors for the garage door, but it still makes me nervous and I hate to rely on a single point of electronic failure.

I was just curious if anyone had any tricks or hacks to do something physical to ensure the garage door can not close on top of my Bronco (kid hits the close button, wife driving home hits the button when pulling into the driveway out of habit, etc)

Throw something in front of the safety beam or park so your tires block it.

Pull the cord for the motor release.

Press the hold button on the wall opener if present (may only be available on higher end units).

And why not? Just st what the OP needs and easy to reset back to connected.
It will work but you need to also physically block the door from rolling down, since you just disconnected the drive that is the only thing holding it up, especially if your spring is a bit older or weaker

Hmmm, never been an issue with my chain nor belt driven units, both with typical torsion springs.

On mine if I pull the release, it won’t fall immediately because most of the weight is still up held horizontally along the top rail, but if you get to about 1/3 of the way closed it will just go down the rest of the way on its own.

I would not trust that as a “lock” to keep the door open is what I’m saying. Unplugging the drive but keeping the drive locked on the door would be safer, I think. Or blocking/unwiring one of the eyes if the drive has a battery backup

This may not help you, but mine has a lockout on the wall panel there disables it. In case you are out of town or something and don't want to have to worry about it. Would probably work for this as well.

All doors should have a pressure sensor that reverses when obstructed.
depends on how old it is.
mine predates the pressure sensor and had the optical sensors added when the main drive was replaced
