I’ve had mine going on a year. 15-16k miles. No issues up to this point. I have an older 2004 ranger non turbo 2.3 that gave me right at 200k miles before major failure. I believe it would have lasted longer but I got it when i was a teenager, gave it little maintenance and a lot of neglect. I had 3 valves break apart at once. I know it’s a different animal, but the base design is similar.

if you have have engine issues post it up, and please include the mileage.

approx 20k miles in and no major issues on my end. the only thing I can remotely think of is the coolant needing to be topped off a bit more than I'm used to, but runs strong.

2015 2.3 Ecoboost Mustang. 100k miles still running strong. What makes you believe these engines have problems? because they don’t. They are bulletproof when not pushed to astronomical horsepower levels with huge boost and bigger turbos. Please show us somewhere you have seen someone bashing these tough little 2.3 engines.

My post wasn’t to prove that they are unreliable. Just wondering of issues that people have had for reference.

I decided on this engine based on my past experiences with the older 2.3s. They all have been tough and lasted the duration for the ones I have had.

My opinion it’s the better choice between the two. I know it’s debatable but not wanting to get into that.

'21 Badlands, had to have the turbo replaced at 17,500 miles. If the vehicle never went into limp mode for an ABS issue, it would have never been noticed because it was still producing upwards of 22 PSI of boost under load.

Vehicle is still in the shop for said ABS issue.

Hello! Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to see how I can assist you with your ABS concerns!

Have you looked at the valves to see how coked up they are or if at all?

Nope. It is a concern, and why I only use top tier premium fuel.

22 Black Diamond over 1.5yrs and right at 26k miles without an issue. Only had 2 problems overall. Just under 5k my driver front brake rotor was wearing like the pad was only making half the surface contact. Dealer did all new front brake pads and rotors. 2nd problem was the rubber trim on the window switches wore off. Of course that was covered too.

The oil you use is more important than the fuel. The fuel never touches the backs of the valves so really doesn't make as much difference as you think. Maybe carbon in the cylinder but not the backs of the valves.

Most folks don't seem to know Ford made two different 2.3's. The old 2.3 Lima engine in Pintos,Mustangs and Rangers has nothing in common with 2.3 Eco boost except displacement. I will say both engines proved to be reliable however.
