Atlas = Transfer case... lower range. I think most all of them offer a two speed but can come in up to 4 speed. Very strong; high end equipment.

It would eliminate the 4A if you had that.... I find it handy on the road. I do not want to give it up.

Got to admit that lower end gearing would be nice......
I'm actually researching today if the 4:1 gears in my old H3 borg Warner T-case could possibly be retrofitted into our Broncos case....??? this would be a hot selling upgrade.

Okay.... A stock BRaptor vs a stock Bronco... I agree... It probably would out crawl a stock Bronco given the same driver. It has more torque, a little more clearance, and better articulation.

The bronco has 11.6 inches of clearance and 415 ft lbs torque. The Brapter (running 37s) has 13.1 inches of clearance and 440 ft lbs torque. That will make a difference. That is 1.5 inches of extra clearance which may not sound like much but is actually pretty big. It definitely makes a difference on the trail. People spend big bucks to get that 1.5 inches.....

I calculate my Bronco will have about 18 inches of clearance. Just my guess, but I am betting that it makes a difference. Yes I will only have the 415 ft lbs of torque but I will also have lower than stock gearing so by the time it gets to the ground.... I kind of feel I am in a better situation there as well.

My opinion (remains to be seen) I do not think it is even going to be close.

Now I am not going to go out and compete with the BRaptor in high speed running or in the whoops... It will own me.

My final width will be about (ever so slightly less) than the BRator. So... even stevens there.

AND I am able to do all this with a 2 Door... and as everybody knows, the 2 door, well....;)
What rpm do you think they crawl at? what rpm do you crawl at?? Whats the torque at that rpm???

im guessing 3000rpm is a good rpm to show they 440 in all its glory. Ive never crawled at 3000 rpm. But i could be doing it wrong.

Wow! 4:1.... I think the lowest I have ever had was 3.62:1... but my trany had a 7.1:1 Yes I robbed it out of a 67 2.5 ton truck.

Well since they have not even shipped to me yet... I do not have them installed so ???? But I do have a high and a low and 10 speeds so I can adjust as needed. I should be something close to stock... Maybe a little higher rpm for the same speed and gear...

I crawled Moab around 1000-1500

that’s where the old 4bt really shined at that low rpm

800-900rpm was silly

I really do not have any seat time with this vehicle.... Shall be fun to see. I have always had V8s... This little motor is tiny... Strong but tiny... It will be fun for me to get a feel for it.

Usually fairly low... Torque was there.... Gears were there... That was not me saying 3000.... that was you.... Now there were times you would get the rpm up but I was typically running a three or four speed....

You quoted torque numbers, and that’s about where they come in. Right?

what torque on the graph is at the rpm you operate

that’s the answer

not peak torque BB style off roading

I loved twin stick and crawling….

Oh jesus....I quoted torque numbers (as in max torque) when discussing a Bronco vs a Brapter....

What should I have done... complicated the discussion by digressing into what rpm each vehicle should be crawling at and then consulted the torque curve for the comparables? Then diverting the entire discussion into and argument as to the appropriate rpm for each to crawl at?

The discussion was would portals be appropriate for a BRapter....

Well I guess I am the odd one here wanting dual cases. I like my factory 2.72 ratio and would want to run a np205 with a 2.0 reduction. I find that I my transmission gets warm without low range in the snow. Would be nice to have a little more speed with the 2.0 and 5.44 would idle up rocks(most likely push through the brakes).

A 4-speed Atlas will get you that all while giving you 2WD low & a front dig. It's basically a 2 speed Atlas with a Klune V on the front of it. And you could specify what ever gearing you want on either unit.

A doubler is cheaper and would allow me to keep the electronics happy!

Well here is more in the wild 74Weld portals, even though they are on a Taco its cool to see the difference. Also the guy is a bit right foot happy lol.

$20K portals, but no front locker? Or just wasn't using it to see how it does??
