Off brand Amazon hidden winch mount-anyone try this?

Kuafu hidden winch mount, just a bit more than half the price of the RC, which I've also been considering.
Apparently it's a slow seller, as the price has gone down by $20 since I first saw it.
And "no instructions" does make one wonder exactly what I'd be getting in to.

Yeah that looks like some very thin metal… I’d pass on it

if the winch pulled itself out of the mount, you’d have a bit of an issue on your hands…

I recently installed the RC unit. The winch mount is pretty solid. I would like it if the bash plate was thicker although I think it will be fine. It's thinner than the stock bash plate, but not by much.

I fear this knockoff will be even thinner.

I feel sorry for anyone who buys this.

If I were anyone besides me I would absolutely buy that and buy the cheapest hook and a 1’ piece synthetic line out the front so people would think I had a hidden winch.

It's definitely a direct copy of RC's hidden winch, hardware and all, but I would be suspicious of the metal as well.

I found a wiki on Kuafu, the character from Chinese mythology-
" In modern Chinese usage, the story of Kuafu chasing the Sun (夸父追日) is used to describe a person who is brave and optimistic and willing to overcome all the obstacles to reach the goal. "
Sounds like the ideal buyer for that mount.

Or it could just an unbranded version of it from RC’s Chinese manufacturer… maybe order both and compare!

The former risk manager in me squirms at some of the stuff Amazon sells. This might be fine, but your rig and someone's life will eventually rely on this in a sticky situation. Amazon does not and will not be held accountable for the things they sell. Amazon does no vetting of the products and very very little of the companies in their marketplace. If your still wanting to go this route the weight might be an indicator of something. Also keep in mind the RC will probably be on sale soon.

Why are so many people around here running a race to the bottom

looking at it , they took the RC design, and removed the double thickness that the side plates create which also wrap around the bottom to increase the strength more than just the gusset that the front and rear of the pan essentially are.
Since it is made of Chinesium, I would be worried about the torque on the welds that hold the edge of the pan to the vertical. Seems like it could be prone to twisting the pan right off the sides with a big enough winch...
