Has this happened to anyone? Can it be glued on with conductive epoxy?

Used it once on a grand am. It worked too get the defroster working again.
Id use it again.

If I remember correctly, you glue the lead to the window then paint the Metallic paint to connect the current to the lead to the rest of the grid. There probably YouTube video for it now

Autozone had a special permatex adhesive. It took me two tries but it worked well

Mine is off as well, but we are in Florida, so fixing this is not high on the list. I showed it to the dealer and they said that they had seen it before and that it was a warranty item, and that they would replace the back window. I have not followed up on it with them, so it is still hanging.

both of mine broke off as well
not much thought went into design and doesn't hold up well to general usage

my dealer said the same thing, except when I tried to sched the warranty work they didn't respond lol, then the second one broke and I just tied them out of the way

have not tried the repair kit, but will give it a try now that winter is coming

Mine has also done this on the driver side. I am scheduled for the technician to look at it, but it sounds like I will need a new read window. Something about the wires inside the glass might be burnt out.

My drives side came off after 19K miles. I zip tied it out of the way as I haven't wanted the dealer to replace the rear window.

I think I'm just going to use the repair kit myself and see what happens, they get good reviews. I just wish the dealer would do the same and not replace the entire window for an easy fix.

Having read this thread, and others with the same topic, dealers having to replace the entire back window seems completely absurd to me. But what do I know.

I’m not saying I’m right here, but maybe a 10 minute repair with glue is not cost / revenue beneficial to dealers and, thus, changing out the glass under warranty allows their shops to bill 1.5 hours rather than 0.16 hours. **caveat emptor: I made up these numbers. Fake News.**

Giving dealers the benefit of the doubt, perhaps they replace the entire glass b/c Ford predicts that, eventually, both sides will fail.

I just purchased the Permatex adhesive from amazon. I’m starting there. I guess if the other side fails I’ll either fix it again myself or bring it to the dealership.

In an update to my previous post, when I had my Bronco in for an oil change they (Ford dealer) soldered the connection back on, so far so good.

It's not so much about it being cost effective, but rather if you try to put the tab back on, and the procedure fails, then you still have an inop rear defroster that now CAN'T be repaired. For Ford Warranty, they (believe it or not) DO want you to be happy with the repair and have everything functioning properly...once you get them to cover it. I did have a dealer try to tell me that because they'd have to replace the back glass (on a different vehicle) that it wouldn't be covered...after a bit of arguing and a call to the OEM it turns out it WAS a warranty repair and coverable, but the dealer still didn't want to do it - they wanted to push it off on me to try the glue repair first.

So if the dealer will replace the back glass to fix it under warranty, awesome! If they won't, the glue stuff is cheap, and if the repair doesn't hold up...a glass shop will replace it cheaper than the dealer.
