Thanks all! I'll mention the Ford-installed option to her but based on what I'm seeing here maybe best to just be safe and wait. I'm not seeing any "Sasquatch is horrible on the road long-term" feedback so guessing that's the way to go.


Lol, I'll need to defend myself a little on this one... She sat right next to me when we configured it, and we went through all the options. Then I sent the print-out to the dealer, who placed the order before we even realized it. Due to long-story circumstances we haven't even placed a deposit yet, so we're not guaranteed to get it.

It wasn't until after all that she decided she wanted the SAS. I think part of the problem was we were overwhelmed with options, had limited access for configurations to test drive, and spent a lot of time focusing mostly on I4 vs V6.

I think I misread the original post ... If you just now ordered it then by all means talk to your dealer and they can change/add it to your order. I was thinking you were there picking it up for whatever reason.

I haven't read anything on this thread besides the original post, but want to answer that. I might be repeating what everybody else has already said...

I have a Sasquatch and my daughter has a Black Diamond. The biggest difference from a practicality point of view is getting into the thing. My wife can get into my daughter's Bronco directly, but needs a step stool to get into mine. Besides getting an inch and a half of additional height from the tires, the Sasquatch is also raised about that much more.

I don't see any difference at all about ride quality or wind noise. One of the pleasant surprises about my Sasquatch is how well behaved it is on the freeway and driving in general. I didn't really notice a difference between the two Broncos for how it feels to drive them.

As long as the difference in cost isn't an issue for you, the only concern you should have is if it's going to be a bother getting in and out of the higher Bronco. For me personally, I use the off road capabilities regularly, so the Sasquatch package makes a significant difference for me.

sas on obx doesn't look good to me. the fender flares are nasty. keep what you have on order and drive it for a bit. then get larger tires if she still wants a bigger look. and warranty shouldn't hold any weight in this decision. dealers can warranty the work if they want to. and vice versa.

Spending 7k dollars for the sake of vanity is beyond insane IMO... even worse.. the money is rolled up in an asset that's going to do nothing but depreciate.

Spend >2500$ on big tires and getting 2" of lift installed and put the rest in savings where it'll make you money every month. Interest rates are the highest theyve been in decades... might as well take advantage.

I wanted the Sas wheels, but not the lift or 35's. So I got low mileage sas wheels off marketplace for $800 as I recall. Then for $120, I powder coated the rings because I didnt want that bright silver that doesnt match anything else. The 33" KO2's hurt at about $1700 for all 5 mounted/balanced. I love this and without the lift or larger tires, my Sunrider clears the garage and I dont have to worry about forgetting to close it.

I bought the most off-road oriented trim, Badlands with Sasquatch. I don't even drive it in the rain and it will never go off-road. 100% purely for aesthetics and because we can. My wife and I "settled for" for 20 years and with the Bronco we said we're getting EXACTLY what we want. I wanted mgv, 360 cameras and 12 inch screen. We both liked the looks of the 35s better as they fit the proportions of the 4 door body panels better.

If you can afford it and want it then go for it. You're going to be hard pressed after it's built to find the setup to get the looks cheaper and it won't carry a warranty. Hell, from the looks it could void it.

Go aftermarket wheels. 75% of the Broncos on the road have that same silver ring and those ugly Goodyears. I’m a fan of stock Badland wheels.

So, everyone has an opinion about how things look to them. That doesn't matter, what matters is how it looks to you and your wife.

I have a '23 4dr OBX non-SAS 2.3l with part time 4x4 in EG. I also have the same usage as your describing. Mine gets ~23 mpg, which SAS will not get with the gearing and the tires. It drives smooth down the road, and the little bit I have taken it off road, nothing crazy, it has performed well. Hell, I even pulled my daughters car out of the woods and off a large rock the other night, no sweat. 4L, a recovery chain and pillar lights, bronco didn't even sweat. No rear locker, no front locker, just a plain old OBX "mall crawler". The car accident, that's another story, but my daughter is okay, just shook up and upset.

Here is the location in daylight. The car was high grounded on that big rock. No wheels on the ground.

My OBX is just as capable as any other 4x4, just not for rock crawling.
I love the look of mine, my wife loves it, although not as much as she loves her BB sport, and that is the bottom line.

And yes, even in this configuration, my wife needs to use the running board to get in. I can imagine she would have a hard time with a SAS lift. That may not be your wife's case tho.

Asking on the forums is a good idea for some things, but in other things you tend to get peoples opinions and not good hard data.

If she likes the looks of SAS, and your usage requirements, Maybe get some bigger tires and or lift/leveling kit down the road after you take delivery. Drive It stock for a while, maybe it will grow on her.

Hi all, just joined up hoping for some help. My wife has wanted a Bronco really bad since they were announced. We recently placed an order for an Outer Banks, since I felt that was close to what her use case was. We never offroad, except maybe the occasional trip up to a cabin (which our standard AWD SUV handles just fine). This will pretty much just be used for work commute and errands.

But now that it's soon to arrive, I'm finding out she wanted the Sasquatch package. But only for the looks, not out of any realistic off-road need. While I'd have concerns about noise/comfort/etc. on road, she's driven both and seems fine with it. She says she doesn't like the looks of the Outer Banks standard, she wants the bigger and beefier tires.

I don't want to push her to settle, but I also don't want her to hold off for a Sasquatch, paying a lot more money, and have regrets when the honeymoon period is over.

I've thought about pushing for aftermarket wheels, but not sure that's worth it after labor costs, voided warranty, mucked up gearing and speedometer, etc.

All that to say, hoping for any advice, personal experience, or ideas to help me out with advising her. Thanks!

Rims and tires can butch up the OBX fast. This was less than 24 hours after purchase for me...

Looks a lot less mall crawler (no lift, no pulled crash bars, no rubbing). RTR Tech 6 rims with 295/70R17 Patagonia M/T's

No Sasquatch package. I did eventually put Bilstein yellow shocks and springs from a Badlands on it.

Stock OBX running gear looks too tame, so either get SAS or aftermarket wheels & tires.

It wheels just fine. What is too tame? The 4.27's or the lack of a front locker?

I think you will get a ton of different opinions, I got the SAS on my OBX, and am happy, think the resale might be better than aftermarket stuff, plus the lockers, the gearing, and correct speedo calibration work for me-

Speedo calibration can be fixed with a laptop and less than $50.

(Haven't read entire thread--apologies if this is repeated info)

Considering (1) the lady wants a beefier Bronco (2) plans on using it for daily drive and (3) just might want to go off-roading? Two accessories that will accommodate current and possibly more ambitious wheeling later:

A) The removable iAG step(s). These are mounted on the Sasquatch rockrail very securely, but can be removed for off-roading, as they are not sliders. I have them, love them and iAG's customer service is beyond compare. They come either full-length or smaller door-only pairs.

B) RokBlokz removable mudflaps. They do the job: protecting your and following vehicles from spray, mud, and rocks (rocks--especially if you keep the Sasquatch OEM Goodyears!) You can remove them for more aggressive rockcrawling.

Agreed, the base Badlands wheels are the best looking in the entire lineup, IMO.
