Can’t you get the SAS OBX with lockers and be just as capable if not hard what you want? No one ever says a Base isn’t capable? And calling it a mall crawler is offensive to some .
Stock OBX doesn’t come with any lockers…. Sas does but no steel bash plates, plastic bumper, etc. a Sasquatch OBX is more capable than 95% of vehicles on the market right now but that other 5% consists of raptors, other broncos, rubicons, etc.

All that can can be added when ordered if you want, just like Base and Big Bend

It is the first trim that has access to the HIGH/LUX package. And it also has unique interior - only can get the Roast/Luna interior (cloth or leather) on the OBX. The painted bits (flares (non Sasquatch), mirror caps, door handles) also a selling point.
F
99% of the Broncos I've seen on the road are OBX moredoor soft top non sas with high package (yes you can tell which package from a quick glance). I'm sure it's a personal choice to pick that trim level and options, but I also think dealerships pushed people to select this trim level with these options or had them change their order to get their vehicles faster. It's no coincidence that the majority of owners (I have seen) have the same build. 3 month wait sounds alot better than 1-2 years. I predict in couple years when production turns around (hopefully) you're gonna see alot of these obx's on resale lots. Owner is selling to get another one and order what they truly wanted from the beginning.
Mine would have beenerely yhe HIGH package but in the Great Lakes snow belt heated steering wheel (for me) is a must have. And Ford ignorantly (or ingeniously since I bought into it) only includes a $100 heated steering wheel with a multi thousand dollar package. Every, every, Iean every other car manufacturer offers a cold climate package, bundling heated steering with heated seats and no other gimmicks.

Truth be told, however, the intelligent cruise that allows foot free driving through construction zones (keeping steady safe distance behind the car in front) is also welcome.

If you're worried about the black trim turning gray just take care of it. Cerakote, Aerospace 303, pick your flavor. And if you don't take of it and it turns gray in 10 years, then just go get some Cerakote at that time. It'll work either way.
I’ll give it a try on my bumpers!

So what, I’ve seen plenty of Badlands wheels for sale on here as well. Some guy in LA had a set of 4 for $250 a few months ago. I agree the OBX wheels are the not appealing part of the trim, but wheels are probably the most modded part of any Bronco trim. If I change mine it won’t be to put on 35s (would’ve just paid for SAS and got rid of the crap tire that comes with it) but to get to more of a 17 inch 33 look.
Peruse Honda's website or dealer lot. The OBX wheels are identical except for center logo to what you get on a Passport or Ridgeline. Ford bought these "off the rack"

I think some of the ribbing (some justifiably so), is that in the non-sas version, people chose features (Roast/painted trim), over capability (lockers/gearing/axles). If you don't need the better mechanics, there's nothing wrong with that. I think the painted trim, and 18" rims look far more street/beach than the other trims.

I can see that. I've been on a few trails and the rear view mirrors are the first things that get scratched by tree limbs or bushes on my badlands. Would really hate if if those were painted.

Non-Sasquatch OBX... Too pedestrian.

So pedestrian...
How do the painted fenders hold up with those tires? I can’t wait to get my OBX, but my favorite thing about the Big Bend I have now is my 35’s. Really thinking about switching the wheels and tires out when it comes in, but the last thing I want to do is chip the paint on the fenders on day 1.
Appreciate your input- thanks!

I added painted flares to my Sasquatch, I do have mud flaps but zero damage to the flares over last summer.

Browse thru the site and it's already hard to tell what trim is what with all the personal mods. Wheels and tires are an easy first change, follow that up with suspension, debadging, changing grilles, wrapped body's and tops and katskinz interiors and only the one that's going to know what it is will be the DMV.
That’s why i won’t de badge mine. I feel it shows it’s “authenticity” by being fords true build and trim.

I joined several message boards since i bought my badlands in January. For me this was a walk-in purchase so i didn't know much about the different trims, or the ordering process. Nowadays, on several bronco online forums, i notice that most new bronco purchases are outer banks. Just wondering what makes this trim so popular?
For me it was 100% the body painted fender flairs. Something I didn’t want to have to fool with later b/c I knew matching them or having them painted would be expensive and could also ne a pain in the ass.

I have owned two F-150 Lariat’s in the past 2004 and 2013 and that was the same thing that drove me to the Lariat trim level too. With F-150s XLTs and lower trim levels all had no fender flairs or plastic fender flairs and that is was a deal breaker for me. Lariat and higher trim packages had body painted fender flairs and that’s what I have always preferred.

Doesn’t matter. Short of the Raptor you have the most capable model.

Not sure what I missing but I have a 22 OBX SAS. I’ve added an onboard ARB compressor, and a winch. Manual sway bar disconnect should be delivered any day. I wheel with a guy in a JT Rubicon. I have no issues doing what he does and I lead most of the time. Minus a GOAT mode or 2 (that I wouldn’t use anyways, and rubber floors) what does a Badlands offer that my OBX doesn’t?
