Since my Bronco has been mothballed for the duration of my current assignment, I felt the need to pick up a (somewhat) temporary substitute. It took a while but finally landed on a ‘23 Ranger WildTrak (couldn’t justify the Ranger Raptor, although I REALLY wanted one… but if you think US dealer markups our out of control, these folks apparently went to the same school!)

Picked up the WildTrak yesterday and early indications are that it will do great on and off road. It’s no Bronco by any means but should do what I want out here.

Since they share platforms to an extent, I’m hopeful that some of the new interior features and tech will indeed transfer over to the Bronco when they do some refresh. Most will be happy to hear that you can turn off the double honk in the vehicle settings! Will provide more updates over time but in the meantime will continue to miss my Badlands!!

Smokey Robinson song "Tracks of My Tears" for your Bronco - "Although she may be cute she's just a substitute, 'cause you're the permanent one!" ;)

Be safe wherever you may be!

Love that ”Stranger Ranger”, but hey, mind sliding me the keys to that Bronco so I can fondle her through the night on trails deep in the woods til you return?

Promise to always ride her hard and put her away wet (or muddy!) :ROFLMAO:

Don't dig the flick type gear selector but the parking brake button location is comparatively genius

Huge center screen and lack of a redundant analog speedo, starting to make me jelly

So the gear selector is still actually a gear selector with a specific notch for each. When I first looked at it I thought it was going to be one of those all electric, “Jeep that killed Chekhov” type things. Was pleasantly surprised.

It actually has multiple redundant speedometers… in digital mode you can display both MPH and KPH simultaneously, or can display the digital and “classic” (analog ish) at the same time. In the configuration settings you can turn the others off if you wish.

The one annoyance I’ve found is that some of the nanny settings over here are like the ASS back home. Lane keep assist and some of the others can be turned off by a switch (on the steering wheel so at least it’s convenient) or in the main vehicle settings page, but they reset to “on” every time you shut the truck off.

Oh well… nothing’s perfect!
