So.......WOW. I didn't expect the difference to be this good :) I was apprehensive at first to spice and dice wiring, but Plug & Play.com has a harness that makes this SO CRAZY EASY:
https://plugnplaykits.com/collectio...y-audio-harnesses-kits?variant=41157659852990

They have an install video on that product page, scroll down.....I did, however, opt to install the amp underneath the steering column. Zip ties - BOOM. Done. Easy Peasy. Plug in the DSP microphone, play test tones - DONE. Completely better and clearer cabin music!!! Note that I do have aftermarket speakers - but no sub. Still sounds amazing. I had the speakers installed for about two months now and the difference with that tiny amp rocks.

This is another Install Video I watched:

Here is where I mounted it:

Good job! They are nice but the Key install and results is on every other thread in the audio section. Same as what many have already done and reported.

Correct - this is where I got most of the reviews and info :) SUPER helpful, especially with the video links. Just my own 2 cents really.

Wait so the wiring harness is $150?! Ugh, just got my kicker key today and trying to get a harness for it.

Saw a video that used a Hoel harness, but its not on their site. Emailed them about making me one.

With the trouble that guy went through to get all that done......I did think about it - and the cost is fair granted he literally made it Plug & Play. Splicing all that would have been a nightmare, unless you are really good at it.

I suppose, and I am not really good at it. I guess I just assumed a harness wouldn't be almost as much as the amp when I bought it. People been doing this over a year now, usually prices go down and more people copy cat. No luck so far though.

The PNP harness is more of a “how much is your time worth” kind of product. For me, I wanted to get in and out as quick as possible and also not do any taps. It’s a time saver and a reassurance thing.

Agree the price is worth it. Just bought the 200.4 + 500.1 + harness today. Awesome to have a DIY turn key solution for terrific audio in the Bronco.

My next will be the 500.1 at this point. Was going to get a self powered sub, but I'm just going to likely do the stock B&O enclosure with a kicker sub and the 500.1 + Harness.

First post I've seen mounting anything to that bracket, better than notching glove boxes, etc👍

This is exactly what I did. Kicker 8" shallow compRT, OEM B&O enclosure, wired to the 500.1 (once it comes in). The trick now will be chasing rattles. Good problem to have! :)

If you haven't done the install yet, you can fit the full size 8in in the box and dont have to use the shallow. Now I don't know if its worth your time to return the shallow or if the full size is even better but just wanted to point it out. Also I haven't been chasing any rattling thank god. I just felt tape wrapped everything I could with the panel off. Wrap the plastic clips on the trim panel side too. I took the clip off and wrapped the base of them, makes putting that clip back into the trim harder but just shove them in.

I'll install my key 200.4 in a few weeks when I'm done traveling but I can tell you the sub is absolutely worth it. Turning the bass knob all the way down feels so bad, there is no comparison.

I plan on getting the Kicker Key 200.1/PNP harness/upgraded speakers soon but as someone with little knowledge about car audio what would you suggest I do to be ready for a small sub (8" or 10") at a later date? Is there another harness/cord I need to install for a sub...I want to open the dash only once to avoid breaks/rattles. Any other bits of knowledge to "future proof" that install would be appreciated.

Many of the "plug and play" harnesses that are built for the Kicker Key amps also come with provisions for the Kicker HS8/HS10 subs. So that is probably what I'd go with unless you are comfortable cutting into harnesses and whatnot.
