I'm looking to do this upgrade as well.

I've been checking the Hoel Wiring site for several months now and the plug and play bronco harnesses have been out of stock (https://hoelwiring.com/collections/bronco) Are there any plug and play alternatives to it? I don't want to get into splicing wires.
I have the ones from PlugNpLay.com. They work perfect.

Wait so the wiring harness is $150?! Ugh, just got my kicker key today and trying to get a harness for it.

Saw a video that used a Hoel harness, but its not on their site. Emailed them about making me one.
I got quoted $600 to install my ($280) Key from a local shop and I am TERRIBLE at splicing so a $150 harness is WORTH it!!

I called and someone wanted around $600 as well. 3 hour job at $200 an hour. Not sure in what world installing audio is worth $200. That's practically what surgeons make.

TRUST ME - that harness is WAY worth it. Also, taking apart the panels to install it was SO EASY.

Im going to install it this weekend. Any other tips (I've read through all 70 pages in the other thread).

Here's what I got so far:

- radio detect on
- bi amp off
- gains close to zero (for DSP test as well), maybe a touch above
- play pink noise at volume 18

1. Reset the amp to default setting (hold the mic button down for 10 seconds - you'll hear a long beep).
2. Turn the amp gains ALL the way down (CCW)
3. Set the head unit EQ (Treble, Bass, Mids) where you WANT it.
4. Play the Kicker pink noise and turn the volume up until you see the LIMITER LED, then back the volume off one click - that's your MAX volume
5. Run the Kicker DSP setup with the pink noise on your max volume setting
6. After setup completes, click the mic button once, pink noise starts again. Now w/ pink noise playing at the SAME volume, turn each gain up until you hit the limiter LED, then back it off a bit.
7. Test the sound and see what you think.

Yup. Exactly. for #3 - I kept mine all at the halfway point. Then adjusted after running DSP.

What’s y’all’s thoughts on the rest of the amp settings? Fader, compression, hi-pass etc..

Am I wrong or is it $470 for the wiring harness and connectors from Plug and play for a 21 bronco with 6-speaker stereo and sub output?? For the 200.4 and 500.1 setup. Nearly $500 for wires?https://hoelwiring.com/products/kic...lug-play-combo-harness?variant=40277918220324
Dont go there (That's a total rip off) - go to plugnplaykits.com - Ask for Joe (say Pat with the Bronco sent you :)
https://plugnplaykits.com/products/...1&_sid=993a642f3&_ss=r&variant=41969635688638

Scroll down to "KIT 19" - the price is WAY different :)

Thanks so it looks like $275. (package 19-1) That's still a lot but easier to swallow. I'm going to pull apart the panels myself but have a shop do the final install.

I'll call PnP them on Monday when open. Seems like this could be cheaper than paying the shop to build the same thing.

I have already upgrade dash speakers and upgraded to 6.5" rear pods. It sounds like the kick panel speakers are good enough to keep. I just bough the Gearshade/Kicker 8.5" sub/Kicker 500.1 kit (ebay from a crashed bronco), and bought the Kicker 200.1 amp only after reading these posts. I was going to go without the 200.4 amp, but all this reading is telling me that I'd regret not going the extra distance. I am a newbie to car stereo upgrades (The last car I had with sound this bad was my 1988 Bronco II).

You will thank me after seeing how much WORK this guy put into those harnesses......Trust me!!! $275 for BOTH those harnesses is a great price. and YES - 200.4 amp is BOMB. Especially after you run the DSP....pretty awesome. Make sure you download a good source for "PINK NOISE"

Wow so mostly done (remote bass control knob not working - getting replaced. But one thing I noticed is that all the warning chimes are much much louder (parking sensor, door ajar, seatbelt off, key-in-ignition, etc.).

I accidentally just ventured into the land of forescan and have easily fixed these and other operational nuisances.

(The chimes seem to be amplified by the gain in the amp, but the Forescan fix makes it so the chimes only come from the built-in speaker of the head until, rather than all the speakers. The drawback is that the chime doesn't scale with the volume of your music but to me that's good - I'd prefer that chimes be at a fixed volume.

The $60 for the connector and an hour of getting my arms around the procedure was well worth it. No more Honk/Honk, no more audible seat belt warning, no more shutting down your keyboard when the car starts moving, no more ding-ding-ding when ignition is on, no more door ajar chimes. And I added Rock Crawl goat mode to my Wildtrak - got em all now! Haven't disabled auto stop start yet - on the fence.

I saw you can also control the temperature of your heated steering wheel, and change the color of your daytime running lights to amber - cool!

Curious what people wound up with for gain settings on the 200.4 and the 500.1. I followed the directions carefully, but I am suspicious that the gain on the 200.4 might be too high - at volume 15, it's louder than I'd ever want it.

However, I am somewhat disappointed that my 8" Kicker Gearshade sub and 500.1 amp are not making more bass. I am wondering if it could be because I am too high on gain on the main speaker amp.

Again I did all the gain matching and sweep tests but I'd love to know what final levels you all wound up with between 200.4 and 500.1.

Sorry i can't be of help as I am using a JL Audio 500.1 amp. (Leftover from my X3). Haven't installed yet though and getting a 10 inch Kicker downfiring TRT enclosure setup. I will update on how this goes. should be done by end of week. I will also check my current 2004.1 for gain settings - for reference now, I never need to go beyond 18 or 19 on my volume knob. and it's crystal clear at those levels. My fader is juuuuuuust a little to the "rear" to get a nice, SUBTLE, surround effect.
