Anyone else having this issue? When you put the A/C in recirculate, it turns off after 1 minute. Normally wouldn't really be too bothersome, however, with my Bronco when doing 75 mph on the interstate not in recirculate the lowest fan speed blows crazy hard for what I assume is essentially a ram air effect coming in through the cowl.

You have described what happens exactly. It is designed not to stay in recirculate so there won't be stale air. The ram air effect at highway speeds defeats any low fan setting.

I ask myself why they do this very annoying thing, why not do what vehicles have done forever to meet requirements for a certain amount of fresh air which is to simply have some come in regardless of fan speed and even when in recirculate.

I find this so annoying that I pretty much avoid using recirc. I can't stand having it all set then suddenly change when it goes off. I usually leave recirc off and select output settings and/or point vents so air isn't directly on me.

It wasn't always this way. It would cut off after an hour perhaps, but not 1 minute.

Normal characteristic.

Depending on where your air distribution is set and internal/external temperatures, it can automatically turn it off at any time.

yep happens to me all the time, but turning it back on second time seems to last longer. Most of my commutes in town are 30 Min or less.

I feel like it did change with a software update. We drove home over Christmas when it was 14F outside and that's when I noticed it was turning off exactly at 1 minute. It never did this over the summer. I did notice it would turn off with the A/C when it was hot out, but it was longer than 1 minute.
I get needing to circulate fresh air, but when we were in extreme temps we needed recirculated heat and every minute it would start blowing in colder outside air when recirc cut off. Really horrible design that needs some attention.

My biggest complaint is not that it's designed to cut off to bring in fresh air, but that it's not designed to turn back on. If they want to cut it off to recirc, fine, but after a few minutes automatically turn it back on. Hopefully they will reconsider the execution and it's something that can be patched.

There has to be something else to it. I've read that it is "fresh air" related and "humidity" related... nah... thats not what's going on here. It's sporadic, and there is nothing about fresh air nor humidity that could be attributed to this. This HAS to be a defect.

There is a handful of other issues I have. I need to make some time and bring it in for them to address my laundry list of issues.

Yes, it's very strange. I've never owned a car that has ever done this from 20-year-old vehicles to brand-new German luxury cars. It makes no sense.

It's not a defect, its operating exactly how it was designed.

In-Vehicle Temperature and Humidity Sensor

The in-vehicle temperature and humidity sensor is an input to the HVAC control module. The in-vehicle temperature and humidity sensor contains a thermistor and a sensing element which separately measures the in-vehicle air temperature humidity. The in-vehicle temperature and humidity sensor has an electric fan within the sensor that draws in-vehicle air across the two sensing elements. The HVAC control module may adjust the air inlet door based on the in- vehicle temperature and humidity sensor information to maintain the desired humidity of the passenger cabin air.

I don't know if this is only on automatic systems but I vastly prefer manual AC. Thank goodness base broncos have manual. That said you can always close off the vents if the ram air is too strong. Make sure your blower is on the lowest setting. That is one thing I'm always fighting on rental cars with automatic HVAC. It has a mind of its own when I want to control it.

This vehicles ability to take control of the climate is almost unbearably annoying.
