Hi guys,

Time to (re)order for MY2023 and looking for some advice, as I am not an experienced off-roader.

For reference, I am planning on ordering a non-sas BL with 33 A/T. I hope to be doing some beach driving (maybe a week a year). Do you recommend a beadlock wheel or the standard non-beadlock wheel?

Thanks!

Beadloxk wheel all the way. Can air down without having to worry about tire coming off. Note you'll have to buy the beads from Ford Performance.

I would recommend the non-beadlock. I have a non-sasquatch OBX and I have driven on the beach multiple times. I have never even needed to air down with the Bronco. I do have two sets of tires/rims, stock for highway and another set for getting more adventurous off-road.

So why do I make this recommendation, because you are only doing beach driving 1 week a year. Have a set of beach tires on beadlocks if you want, but only if you want to explore further than would be reasonable on A/T tires. If you are going to challenge the Bronco, beadlocks and tires that will perform in sand make sense, but the those same tires are not the best choice for daily driving.

These Patagonia M/T's are no where near as good on the highway as the stock OBX rims and tires. However, they eat up the sand, even at 35 PSI!

Your stock rims. If you stay in sand that’s between where the waves wash and where it gets hard to walk in you’ll never need to air down.

For sand running, 15-20 psi is usually the most you would have to lower the pressure to. Even at that pressure, unless you really "hot dog it", you are not going to break a tire bead loose from the rim. Also the optional Badlands wheel is only "beadlock capable". You would have to buy the extra beadlock rings to make it a real bead lock wheel. But if you like the looks of the beadlock wheel, I say go for it!;)

Thanks, all, for the helpful advice (and pics)! There's some great insight here. Right now, leaning towards the standard (non-beadlock) wheel.
