I was seriously torn between the 11HS8 and the 46HS10 since Crutchfield had them both on sale last month. Hopefully the 8 will be plenty for my needs, as ANY bass will be most welcome to fill it all out.
I’m sure it will be plenty. At times the 10” hits embarrassingly hard.

How did the kicker hideaway install go @BFizzy @Biff ? Did you guys use a plug n play harness or just tap into the speaker wire? If so what was the best location to do this? Also, where did you mount it? Thanks!

I have the PNPKit 11-4, so I didn’t have to splice into speaker wires. I screwed the hs10 into the rear cargo area firing up but I put the cargo mat over it to hide it. Not the prettiest solution, but I can just throw stuff on top of it now and it won’t attract thieves as much since I rarely have the top on. Having the top off let’s a lot of the sound out of the vehicle, so having the mat on top actually helps keep the sound in. It still sounds much better with the top on though.

Unfortunately other chores stole my install time this past weekend, but I will attempt again this coming weekend. I love the under the cargo mat solution BFizzy came up with and will likely do the same until I can pick up a tonneau cover from Mabett once they are available for purchase.

thanks for including pics! Glad to hear it’s working out and you’re happy with it. Excited to install mine. I already have the plug n play 11-1 for the key amp so haven’t decided how I’m going to go about connecting the amp, might end up tapping into the speaker wire.

I was going ti install this past weekend too but there was an issue with shipping. Hopefully will have it by this weekend.
I’m concerned with theft too as I almost always have the back windows out and top down in the summer.

You can order the extra harness for me and it’ll plug into my existing harness you don’t need to splice or hack into my harness to upgrade

So I finally have my system all wired up-I'm using the Kicker Key200.4 up front and the Key 500.1 to drive my sub. I'm using the Plug and Play kit 11-4

I noticed an weird issue when I was setting the Amp and Sub up today-when I have the vehicle in accessory power only, I'm only getting volume from front passenger side, but when power is on, all the speakers are working.

I'm also looking for dip switch settings for the Key200.4-want to make sure I'm running it the right way with the Key500. It seems to working ok outside of the above issue, but want to double check.

Got the Kicker HS8 hideaway sub installed. Keep in mind we have a 2 door. I removed the rear seats (I'm going to build a platform - no one rides in the back seat our kids are grown). The HS8 fits perfect behind the driver's seat. Can't even see it with the seat back in normal driving position.

Joe from @plugnplaykits sold me the sub as well as an add on harness (no cutting wires) to hook up the sub. Used an amp install kit I had to run the power wire to the battery. Ended up using fabric harness tape and made the harness long (the harness from plugnplay had a ton of extra length) so I could move the sub if I wanted. Pulled the harness under the carpet and under the seat (Where the air bag and seat heater wiring come out). Left the long loop of wrapped harness under the seat.

Tie wrapped / wrapped and tucked everything.

This is EXACTLY what this setup was missing.

Set the 200.4 Key high pass at 80hz and the low pass on the sub to around 80hz. I'll play with settings later - but the difference is RIDICULOUS.

Heck, I bought new 4" speakers for the rear pods and didn't even bother with installing them.

Even my wife is thrilled. I'm honestly shocked how hard this little 8" powered sub hits.

Hi everyone, I have a few questions.

I'm using the PNP harness with a hideaway 10, bought from Joe.

Do I want the hideaway in high or low mode? I think high since this is being pulled from speakers, correct, according to the manual.

For the key 200.4 EQ pink noise test, if you are primarily driving with no doors, no top (2 door here) should I do the test with everything removed, or enclosed? Opinions?

@ctandc thanks for the tips on the 80hz and the amp and sub, I will try that.

Thanks

J

Read the entire thread, still a little unsure what to do. I only plan on installing a Kicker Key amp and replacing the dash speakers in my base sound system. What is the consensus on using a PnP harness for Kicker 200.4 if you're not going to install a sub? Trying to decide if I should go with Kit 11-1 from plugnplaykits or the cheaper one that @RedHotFuzz posted (https://hoelwiring.com/products/kicker-key-200-4-plug-play-harness?variant=40277852618788) and run power from the battery. I know some folks had issues with clipping, I assume due to not enough power from the ACM using the PnPK harness? Would rather do it right the first time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
