Is Mid Package a must for a daily driver?

The mid was a nice upgrade in my opinion, especially for a daily.

Everyone has mentioned the heated seats, but the AC outlet, lighted visors, auto dimming rear view, dual climate, reverse sensing system, sync4, CoPilot 360 with BLIS, Emergency braking, Lane keeping assist, auto dim high beams, reverse camera…fairly substantial upgrades for a daily.

I may have gotten lux package if it was available on base but No way I was gonna go up trim $10k-$15k just to be able to order it...no way I was even going up trim $5k for the mid package. There is nothing in any of those packages I can‘t live without and be perfectly happy...

OP don't forget, if you want the mid package, you also have to pay for "upgrading" to the auto transmission.

I was in a similar dilemma. Manual is a must have, and the mid package was a big want. It felt insulting to think I had to pay extra for a transmission I didn't want.

I'm ordering a 2 door black diamond manual. I added the keypad on the door which is my $100 substitute for keyless entry. Heated seats and footwell lighting can be added after market. Dual zone AC and auto dimming rear view mirror is nice but I can definitely live without those things. I have an outlet I never use in my Tacoma, so I'm not worried about missing the 110v outlet from mid package.

The way I see it, I'm saving a ton of money by not "upgrading" to an automatic and not purchasing mid package. I've found my substitutes for specific things I want and I get to drive a manual. Win-win.

I haven't read anything past the first sentence of the first post yet, but let me tell you, the Black Diamond is no downgrade! The Badlands buyers aren't even offered the steelies, and the BD fender badge looks way cooler.

Badlands is out of my budget so I have to downgrade to Black Diamond but manual is a must.

I can't get Mid Package AND Manual with Black Diamond so I have no choice but to go with the standard package.

I like the comfort creatures but I don't know if I should go ahead and order BD with the standard package.

Anyone here with the standard package daily their Bronco? Any regrets? Also, does CarPlay work with the standard package?

In all seriousness, the OPs question is "Is Mid Package a must for a daily driver?"

Well, okay, please define a daily driver. And where do you Iive? I own old cars and I love manual transmissions, but I also live in a big city with lots of traffic. The manual is a huge hassle a lot of the time. Why do you require a manual? Where are you gaining the fun, and where are you running into the hassle? Pros and Cons.

Some of the new safey features I don't care about so much, but I've learned to really like the blind spot monitoring and back up cameras on newer vehicles. It's a huge convenience. For a "daily driver" why wouldn't you want that? Why would you give that up just to get a manual for your commute?

I ordered an AT Black Diamond with Mid package. I love it! I use my Challenger for stick shifting fun when I think (hope) I won't be stuck in traffic.

I have a Manual Black Diamond that I use as a daily driver.

I have no regrets going with the standard package. I actually didn’t know the mid package forces you to go with the auto transmission until now. When all of that is said and done, I don’t think having a transmission you don’t want and few extra bells and whistles is worth an extra ~ $5k.

I like that the seat positioning is manual. It’s more old school and less things to break. I live in Utah and plan to use it a lot in the desert. So I will be constantly washing it out and really don’t want to risk breaking anything. The less electronics, the better.

The only thing I miss is heated seats. But I’m sure I could find someone to do it aftermarket if I looked around.

All in all - I daily drive a Manual and LOVE IT!

For what it’s worth, I have a Base as my daily. 42K for auto 4 door Sasquatch was too good to pass up. I start my Bronco every morning with the Alexa Ford skill and from my work with my Ford app. I ordered the keypad for $85 so I can still unlock without taking my fob out of my pocket. Only thing I still need is heated seats, but I’m looking into after market heated seat options. I’m in Vegas so it isn’t essential, but it’s nice to have. Just deciding if I want cheap heating pads from Amazon and install myself or go Katskinz. Heated seats weren’t worth upgrading to Big Bend just for the privilege to drop 5k or however much more for another package IMO. The pads are like $80 on Amazon and I’m tempted to go that route.

Just so you know a bunch of the things that you stated you get in Mid actually come in the base standard package too. I highlighted them for you. There aren't as many upgrades in the Mid package as people think.

I feel your pain. I was in your spot. My original reservation was for a BD with manual and was original going sasquatch (so a 2022 order even back in 2020) and I was hoping that Ford would allow the mid on the BD/Manual combo.

When Ford did not make the Mid available on the BD with Manual, I bit the bullet and went BL but also dropped sasquatch.

Manual and heated seats were non-negotiable for me, and I could afford to move up to the BL. Sorry you are in a pickle. If the BL is absolutely out of the budget, I would go Manual and do an aftermarket heated seats when you can. Much easier to add heated seats than swap an automatic for a manual

I have a base manual transmission Black Diamond now for four months. Loving it.

Two things I miss by not getting Mid.

1. Lack of on screen navigation. However, I can use car play for that.
2. The climate control is not a specific temperature but is an old school dial to control fan speed and a dial to adjust temp of the air being blow. Takes some time to figure out where you need it for your comfort level but it's not really a big deal.

Otherwise I have ZERO complaints. The manual in SPORT mode is a FUN drive.

I drove a 2004 Toyota Sequoia for a few years saving a lot money while anticipating the release of the Bronco. I enjoyed upgrading things like the stereo lighting, etc until I decided I wasn't going to spend anymore money on it. I sold it to my little sister for a steal. It only had 172,000 miles....

Anyways.... The standard package offers many features that would defiantly be considered an upgrade coming from the Sequoia. However, I told myself I wanted blind spot monitoring in my next vehicle as I have almost wrecked countless times because smaller cars seem to enjoy riding in the blind spots of large SUV's. I don't like that Ford nickels and dimes for everything as it's a standard feature now on most economy cars.... The rear cross traffic alert has saved me a few times when blindly backing out of sketchy parking spaces. I also love the parking sensors when backing into my garage, or against a wall.

I talked myself into spending more money, but I got everything I wanted in my daily driver.

You are custom ordering a vehicle, check all the boxes if it's a deal breaker for you. Avoid a Bronco should, coulda, woulda.

Guess i'm old school. Badlands with standard package. Offroad capabilities and upgraded suspension drivetrain upgrades far outweighed heated seats within what i wanted to spend. Just dont want need it. Only things i would have liked from higher packages are dash usb power and 110v. Driven daily, -30+celsius , no regrets.
