To anyone wondering:
I've backed out the Bronco order. Badlands too expensive with ADM. No manual with mid package for Black Diamond. Low towing rating from factory. Seems like not worth it.
I don't care about the remote start. It won't work with the manual anyway. I do care about the heat seats, keyless entry, footwell lighting, auto dual AC, auto-dimming rearview mirror and the other gimmicks. It's a deal breaker for me.
Badlands is out of my budget so I have to downgrade to Black Diamond but manual is a must.
I can't get Mid Package AND Manual with Black Diamond so I have no choice but to go with the standard package.
I like the comfort creatures but I don't know if I should go ahead and order BD with the...
I think I may wait for some aftermarket hitch with a weight distribution that supports over 6000 lbs towing. It may require some kind of exhaust modification seeing that it is in the way. Should be easy.
No, the entire purpose of this thread is how to safely tow exceeding the factory capacity. Not a troll attempt. It's a legitimate question.
If I cannot do it safely, I'd fall back on choose which one to drive.
But if I can safely do it, then the risk would be no different than factory ready...
I'd not tow it. I'd drive it like I usually do. It means I'd have to leave my Bronco behind. This means I'd choose between GT350 or Bronco for the road trip. Why not have cake and eat it too? :)
You are right, it's not built for what I need so I modify it. Isn't this what the forum is all about? Enthusiasts talking about our favorite vehicles and modifying them to meet our desires? Safety is 1st of course so this is why we are having this conversation.
I'm purchasing a Badloads Bronco for its looks, cargo space, manual transmission, and its ability to soak up DC's potholes, lol. I'll rarely take it off-road, if ever. I'd tow over state lines and back home once a year. A truck didn't seem like worth it if I was just using it to tow once a year...
It is a 4-door. I think the wheelbase is fine. The rear suspension may be too soft. Maybe stiffer springs can fix that.
Getting a third vehicle is just not in the cards right now.
You said it might be safe but then you say I know it's unsafe. Both statements can't be true. It's either safe or it's not. Legal or otherwise. Legality is not this topic is about. If it can be proven safe then I'm good.
