I’m not going to speak for other dealers but FDRS can get cranky, files from Ford don’t download right and various other things can happen. On mine, Marlin hooked up, did another update for chassis control module and sound bar update in about 45 min. Now, we’ve done telematics control unit updates on other vehicles that have taken 4 hours due to the file sizes. We’re on fiber at work and have stupid good access points so we aren’t the choke point.
I would think a dealer could easily do just the sound bar in an hour. If it’s in for some other software or work and they have a reason to have FDRS hooked up they might charge less. All depends on your dealer and if they are as awesome as us. :p
So im thinking if I swap the 4 inch rear speakers with something better (like Kicker CS speakers) and maybe used bass blockers, and got the flash done, this would get some pretty good results for little cost…?

That’s my plan. I have 600hz in front. Thinking perhaps 300hz in rear? Currently running Infinity REF and I’m happy with them. But, may dig deeper now that we’re figuring these things out. The stock speakers were in for 10 days. Now the harnesses are available too.

just out of curiosity, why did you pick 600 for the front? cant decent 4" produce base below 600hz? (I have JL Audio C1 400X ready to install and am trying to decide if I should get bass blockers and if so...300 or 600)

Honestly, I went with what Crutchfield suggested. It was early on though (August). I’d be curious if they’ve had time to work on a Bronco of their own. Honestly, I’m pretty happy with the outcome. I’ll probably order some 300hz and see what the difference is for myself. They’re only $10 a set.

Edit: I’m happy with the outcome, but the soundscape is very much front of house. I’m hoping this helps fill the space a bit.

I didn't install a subwoofer but I upgraded my 4" speakers in both the dash and the rears. My fronts worked with no issues, my rear speakers sounded flat and got no bass and zero movement from the cones. Tried rewiring negative to positive etc but that did not work either.

I then found this post (pic attached) regarding forescan and my rear 4" speaker issues are solved. They now sound just like the front dash speakers with bass and cone movement.

I don't use blockers... My Polks already came with the proper filters built in 👍🏻
Plug in and go. Sound great!
If my truck goes in for temp sensor diagnostics, I might tell them I'm also getting a soundbar in the near future. 🤔

Posed the question in the ForScan forum. Can't contact the dev directly without a paid license anymore. 🤷
Some of you paid for ForScan. Maybe drop then a line.
Pretty sure ForScan has the power to update firmeware... Just need access to the file!

Would love to see a ForScan solution. Hopefully somebody has the ability to test this!

Alright, I sent a note to my sales rep on Friday, saying I need the JBL sound bar flash done before I take delivery. He responded "I don’t think it will be a problem, we will figure it out." I should take delivery 2nd week of March, I will keep updates coming as I move towards that on this front.

Here's the view from the front and the rear with the sound bar "upside-down" which puts it up high.

So the sound is going directly into a solid piece of plastic? Seems sub-optimal at best.

If somebody can figure this out in forscan, I would totally swap my 4" pods out for 6x9 pods.

Love the speaker install, but tell me more about the leather seats. Are they Katzkins? I like the color combo. Do you mind sharing what it is.

I talked to Crutchfield last Friday about the dash speakers and they said as long as they are full range, no blockers or filters are necessary, so I'll probably go that route.

I like the discussion about the flash for the speaker bar to unlock the full frequencies as well. I'll keep watching this thread.

I've got a pair of co-ax Focals in the back now with caps and it immediately improved the rear sound after the program was done and sound settings were put back to the way I had them. I still haven't taken the caps off my 6.5s which should improve my mids and lows but that isn't related to the flash.
