Top panels with attaching hardware, less glass. Dealer going to sell to body shop at 15-30 over cost, body shop is going to charge insurance company list price. Tell me where they are getting their figure from. Supplement damage yes, all top, no. Get it put back to factory or it's going to add additional deductions above the damage report. Me thinks the body shop may be trying to screwzilla the city since they likely self insure.

Caveat, these may take time to come in but dealer can push Ford since this is a down vehicle and not just normal stock.
Transfer glass (assuming all good) $300ish max, reinstall top $300ish max.

Right Panel M2DZ-9850284-AA $1,088.45 list
Left Panel M2DZ-9850285-AA $1,026.43 list
Cap M2DZ-98502G33-AA $2,315.50 list

Evidently so. Dealer's body shop called me to let me know that their/State Farm's estimate had grown from app. $12,000 to nearly 30k. Big part was the MIC top which had taken some damage when my Bronc swung around and hit the side of the Sacramento city bus that nailed me in the front quarter panel. (Driver swears he light was green.)

Evidently, SF wanted to know if he could just repair the top. I had this machine for a bit more than a month. Drove it from Nashville to California and, no, I don't think I want the top to be glued/chemically welded back together. Pics available when I get them.

But, seriously Ford. $9,600?
want to buy mine?
its coming off the trailer today and i have my soft top kit upstairs ready to go

Do you have your soft top Bronco yet? If so, do you not like it? If not, wait till you get it, you won’t care about the MIC. From what I’m reading on this forum, the soft top is quieter than the hard top. I can tell you that I’m very pleased with my soft top and I’m pretty critical of items that I spend my money on.
There's lots of distorted information on the tops, because the problems tend to get more conversation. I've had my MIC 4dr since October 21. I also swap stories frequently with the increasing number of Bronco owners in various Charleston area parking lots. My MIC works well, is functional, quiet, keeps out the weather and the panels pop on and off easily. Fit and finish are excellent. It is repairable and paintable, with the correct materials. In conversation, People tend to get the stock soft top to get their vehicle quicker, and its much easier to flip on and off (forward and back) without storage issues. They suffer more noise on the highway, less security but love the easy open air experience and the look. The downside of the MIC is storage and convenience, the downside of the softie is noise, security, and the likelihood that the SC sun will obliterate the canvas in 5 years.

I have totaled a couple of cars, and it has never been that cheap.
hate to have to pay your insurance. OUCH! Maybe the few I have seen were cheaper cars and not so popular. Who knows... it is a crap shoot no matter what.

Of course, Ford doesn't directly offer a soft top for the 2-door. They appear to have one as an accessory, but you still have to buy the hard top anyway.

Googling for a more direct source, I found this: https://www.bestop.com/products/trektop-21-22-bronco/?sku=5687217 $1,699.99 for the twill version, or $1,299.99 for the vinyl version.

These appear to be the exact same tops that Ford would gladly sell you for $2,319.00 and $1,699.00 respectively. (Yes, that's right, $1,699.00, the price for which the manufacturer will sell you the more expensive of these two tops, is almost the same price for which Ford will sell you the cheaper of the two.)
https://accessories.ford.com/search?q=soft+top+bronco

A lot cheaper than the $9,600 for a new hard top which wasn't what you really wanted in the first place, and cheaper than if you'd got it through Ford as an accessory.

It seems to me that the solution here is obvious. F••• the hard top and the $9,600 that it'll cost to replace it. Tell your Regional Transit's insurance that you'll be happy if they just buy you this soft top instead, and they should be happy as well, because even if Ford's hard top were more reasonably priced, it surely still would cost more than this soft top. I'm thinking that even a reasonably-priced hard top would still have to be at least in the $2,000 to $3,000 range.
I hear ya, but I'm dealing with State Farm and they will be suing the transit authority. The dealer did send me a note saying I had 1400+ in cashback. Maybe that can be used for a soft top while I am waiting for a hard top. DM all over again.

If it

If it’s a word v. word red light dispute, those city buses typically have no fewer than 16 different cameras on them, for what that’s worth. At least in my neck of the woods.
You know it. If I was suing them I would have asked for the footage.

All valid points. I will say that I am surprised with the lack of noise with the soft top.

Im in Mt P and have a soft top. Love it so far, especially when our winters still have 75 degree days. Keep it in the garage to make that canvas last a little longer. I have an '06 miata that is a rag top and is garage kept. The original top is still great after 15 years. Take care of the tops and they will last.

That being said, a hard top would be nice for longer trips and "winter" months when it does actually get cold. Ill keep an eye out when they become available and the aftermarket offers more options.

My freedom panel on my 2 door was damaged from factory. Dealer said that just for the 2 front panels that it costs $4800 so I would say this quote is correct.
