Depending on damage, the MIC top can be repaired, (I did it) but theres no paint that will match a color impregnated composite. You can, however, repair a panel and then paint the whole top in a new color. Are all the panels damaged? I used a carbon/graphite blend in my epoxy paste, for UV protection and for a marginal color approximation. If the panels were painted, there are lots of options. I'll be painting mine white, eventually.

Nowhere close to salvage auction prices. I sell insurance. Had a client with total loss bought their $10,000 vehicle for $1200. If the insurance company does not have to deal with it, it saves them a ton of money. Towing, storage, title transfer, etc. They took the money out of the payout. Might be a little different if there is a large line on it.
I have totaled a couple of cars, and it has never been that cheap.

No way can these prices be right. If you look at the price of a top for JL, they're about $3300. If the Bestop soft top is $1,800 MSRP, let's just assume the Ford one costs a little more... let's say 2400. the price difference at the time of order for the MIC vs Soft Top is $695. That means the MIC top should be about $3,100. Factor in inflation by the time it's available.... 2026.... so crap .... the person that got quoted $5,900 might be right haha.

JK ... my guess is that in 2023 when hopefully the MIC tops will be available to order as an accessory, the MSRP will be 3300-3500 is my best guess. Again I am just looking at the prices of the soft tops and also looking at the Jeep for a reference.

service parts are always seriously expensive.

No one pays those prices except insurance companies I think. if you ever look for service parts in general, you find a site that sells them at 50-75% of list price.

As an accessory, Id expect them to be something around 4k.

At $30K repair cost on a Base I would expect the insurance company to total the vehicle. In addition to salvage value and cost to repair, another factor is time to get parts. I had a brand new 1500 with relatively minor frame damage to the rear end get totaled because the ETA for a replacement frame was 6+ months.

Wanted that from the factory. State Farm has to pay. Hopefully they won't total it? Not sure on that one.
Of course, Ford doesn't directly offer a soft top for the 2-door. They appear to have one as an accessory, but you still have to buy the hard top anyway.

Googling for a more direct source, I found this: https://www.bestop.com/products/trektop-21-22-bronco/?sku=5687217 $1,699.99 for the twill version, or $1,299.99 for the vinyl version.

These appear to be the exact same tops that Ford would gladly sell you for $2,319.00 and $1,699.00 respectively. (Yes, that's right, $1,699.00, the price for which the manufacturer will sell you the more expensive of these two tops, is almost the same price for which Ford will sell you the cheaper of the two.)
https://accessories.ford.com/search?q=soft+top+bronco

A lot cheaper than the $9,600 for a new hard top which wasn't what you really wanted in the first place, and cheaper than if you'd got it through Ford as an accessory.

It seems to me that the solution here is obvious. F••• the hard top and the $9,600 that it'll cost to replace it. Tell your Regional Transit's insurance that you'll be happy if they just buy you this soft top instead, and they should be happy as well, because even if Ford's hard top were more reasonably priced, it surely still would cost more than this soft top. I'm thinking that even a reasonably-priced hard top would still have to be at least in the $2,000 to $3,000 range.

So now all of us that switched to a soft top are now paying $8k more for our Bronco when we finally get the hardtop through Ford parts/accessories. F-ing Bullsh!tt.
Do you have your soft top Bronco yet? If so, do you not like it? If not, wait till you get it, you won’t care about the MIC. From what I’m reading on this forum, the soft top is quieter than the hard top. I can tell you that I’m very pleased with my soft top and I’m pretty critical of items that I spend my money on.

This is why I refuse to switch to a soft top now with the prep kit. No guarantee can get a hard tip within 1.5 years and no price info out there yet scares me.
